Lots of hoppy citrus aromas and more in the flavor. Sweet and malty backbone too. Good stuff. BBB63 (4267), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 4, 2007 Tap at O’Brien’s SD: Deep amber hue with a fading head and some lace. The aroma has notes of caramel and toffee malt, resiny, grassy hops, grapefruit esters, and a hint of butterscotch. The taste is somewhat balanced with the sweet malt versus resiny PNW hops. Mildly acidic and fruity with a noticeable peppery finish. The mouth feel is quite lush and sticky with some warming. A good brew but something seems amiss with the flavor profile, not hoppy enough methinks.
It appears this batch is a few months old and could explain the fading hop profile. Will need to re-rate a fresh batch. Snojerk321 (2020), San Diego, California, USA

I was getting a lot of cherry flavors, the person I was with was claiming big chocolate on the palet. I thought it was an imperial red.....guess I was wrong! A great brew! | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 28, 2007 Draft @ O’Briens. As malty of an IIPA as you can imagine. The big bubbled head is real sturdy. There must be a shitload of hops in this as it somehow pokes its head through the ginormous malt bill. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA

Aroma is strong citrus with grapefruit, caramel, pine, resin. Medium to heavy body, the alcohol really shows. Fairly bitter with a good hop finish though. Enjoyable but lacks finesse. | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Oct 29, 2007 On Tap Hamiltons. Rich copper color, full body hoppy but balanced. Not a hop bomb but a hoppy malty IIPA. Incredible! MIBRomeo (1965), Wisconsin, USA
