Oily, roasty nose, notes of alcohol, propolis, maybe coffee. Not the nicest IS aroma you can find. Bitter, roasty, almost completely burnt maltiness, sweet, some alcohol and coffee. The taste isn’t too heavy but it’s oily in a way. Ok but unimpressive or just possibly not my type of IS

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 13, 2009 31/10 0.5 l bottle courtesy of ogivlado, great thanks for sharing! It poured oil black body with no head. Typical fine IS aroma, coffee, propolis, sweet chocolate, roasty, slight alcoholic. Hops might be felt slightly. Flavor predominately coffee with caramel sweetish as a little balance. Somewhat woody and might be herbal hoppy. Full bodied of course, but not so much as some other Imperial stouts may be, still with oily palate. Long and pleasant bittersweet finish that just reflects the flavor. Fine and enjoyable stout for sure, although not the best Imperial one for sure.
