Aquilo (182), California, USA Jun 11, 2008 This is about as middle of the road as you can get for an IPA. It’s not bad. But there’s nothing exciting here either. You would think that if they put a gold medal on the bottle, the beer would be exceptional. All I can figure is that there must not have been enough competition for that medal.

So anyway, it pours a rather dark and cloudy amber color with a little bit of head. It has that distinctive orange-and-hop IPA smell. But the hops are grassy and not assertive enough for me. A little bit of cinnamon and nutmeg in the aroma as well. The flavor is weak. There’s not much else to say for it. Some orange. Some grassy hops. A bit watery. Just weak. Palate is average. Not too fizzy. Not too smooth. Seriously, if you’re going to put a gold medal on your bottle, I expect more.
fonefan (5569), Ulfborg, Denmark Nov 19, 2008 Bottle 355ml. @ home.
[ Trade by Papsoe ]. Unclear hazy medium orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly - fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel notes, moderate heavy hoppy, sweet orange, citrus. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. (020908) golubj (1086), Redwood City, California, USA Oct 13, 2008 Bottle. Amber pour with some white head. Aroma is slightly sweet malt, some biscuity malt, and citrus and crisp earthy hops. Flavor is the same, initially sweet, mildly bitter middle, citrus and a crisp hop finish. Decent beer. steview (810), Oceanside, California, USA Oct 4, 2008 fresh, balanced aroma; hazy copper-yellow body, orange highlight, random streams of beading tiny bubbles, moderate lacing, fair off-white head that diminishes into rockiness; perfume, grapefruit and its rind, and the malts are there, but hard to identity--toasty; deliciously bitter, and strong, IPA. rkuhnel (1199), Eureka, California, USA Oct 3, 2008 Bottle courtesy of bhensonb. Great beer this one was. Poured a deep amber with a nice head with creamy tones in the bubbles and good lacing. Nose of citrus hops and some hard to identify spices (cinnamon?). Clear and rich mouthfeel. Flavor of caramel malts and and hops, with pine showing this time in addition to the citrus. Good long bitter finish. A good and well crafted IPA. DragonsHead (118), Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 30, 2008 Had on draft at the Freakin Frog in Las Vegas. Nice hoppy aroma with a solid malt note. Taste was a good, deep hops, not too sharp, with a malty backbone. Overall, a nice balance.
