Pours dark, dark brown, almost black, with a 1/2 inch head that dissapears quickly. Aroma is of chocolate and is a little musty. Lacing is light. Flavor is of roasted malt with cocoa and coffee. Palate is milky and a little alkaline. Finish is full flavored. This beer is good and kinda drinks like a porter.

Feb 15, 2008 Smoked hops and caramel aroma. Some citrus notes. Dark brown, fluffy head. Tangerine flavor, brown sugar, hops, and some smoke in the finish. Palate was a little sweet but full.

Feb 13, 2008 Draught. Cloudy brown beer without much head. Big citrus hop aroma, a bit too much for the style. Flavor is also dominated by hops with a cloying sweetness.

Oct 13, 2007 Dark rich brown pour with just a little light tan head. Smell is nice and roasty with a hint of coffee, along with the traditional draught house smell/feel to it. Some kind of soft, chewy, fruity element I pick up in basically all their beers. Taste is nicely bitter, and much more than most browns, or any that I’ve had for that matter. Roasty, a bit of a metallic bitterness and a medium to long finish on the beer. Good body, but not as smooth as something like a Samuel Smiths brown. Good all around, and unique for a brown, but not too unique from the taste profile of the Draught house’s other beers.

DH American Brown: Pour is dark ruby brown with a thin skin but dense brown head...smell is lightly sweet and nutty with a strong hop aroma of soapy notes...taste is slightly sweet and nutty at first, with a nice unexpected (if it weren’t for the aroma) lightly soapy bitterness in the finish...nice chewy mouthfeel, but quick crisp finish.
