Dark brown black pour with a light brown tan head. Smell is coffee and roasted nuts and maybe some bananas in there as well. Flavor is nice and has a spicy malty roasted sweetness to it with a wheat finish. Interesting and nicely done. lb4lb (1546), Austin, Texas, USA Jun 22, 2008 Pours black with a light tan head. Smell is coffee roastyed malt, clove spicing. Taste is wheaty, roasty and very clovey. Like a roasty hefeweizen, more than what I thought a dunkel would be like. Pretty nice body and flavor all around and a nice beer. kidmartinek (777), austin, Texas, USA Jun 10, 2008 Updated: Jul 28, 2008On cask at the Draught House 7/28/08-
Dark latte brown with a 1.5 inch tan head. Complex aroma of dark wheat malt, vegetable, and chocolate. Tastes like slightly bitter dark
wheat, musty wood, cocoa, coffee, and mineral water with notes of dark fruit and some banana from the yeast. The feel of this beer is dry, fizzy, and somewhat milky. Intriate light lacing. The finish borders on sour.
I’ve had this beer on draught as well and is has a much thinner mouthfeel and I would knock the palate down to 2 and the overall down to 14.
