kidmartinek (777), austin, Texas, USA Apr 18, 2008 Dark black, small light tan head, excellent lacing. Smells like coffee, and vanilla, imagine that? Also smells like dark roasted malt. Has a strong vanilla taste, but it’s good, unlike the Breckenridge attempt where it was just kinda weird. Other flavors include oak or pecan. Mouthfeel is heavy, slightly creamy, and develops a dull bite on the finish. Coffee lingers in the aftertaste. skwerl (1), Austin, Texas, USA does not count Feb 27, 2008 Seventy five characters eh? Black brown in color - a bit thin looking - with decent head. Smoky vanilla roasted smell. Flavor is similar just toned down - vanilla is there and the roasted malt hints are in there too, but just masked a little more. Palate is a bit thin and watery but drinkable nonetheless. lb4lb (1546), Austin, Texas, USA Feb 11, 2008 Pours a deep, rich black color with a light but short lived beige head. Smell is strongly of vanilla and astringent coffee. Taste is very influenced by the vanilla to begin with with strong coffee in the finish that lingers for a bit. Pretty nice beer with a bold flavor. (not served on nitro) Walt (2291), Chicago, Illinois, USA Mar 11, 2007 Pour is black with a thin brown head...smell is sweet vanilla...taste is sweet vanilla...mouthfeel was thick and chewy...finish is vanilla with maybe a touch of alcohol...while you may not think that this rating is descriptive, I have to say that everything I wrote about this beer is 100% accurate...true story...like getting the shit kicked out of you by a vanilla bean is sort of how I feel about this one...no longer served on nitro.
