kidmartinek (777), austin, Texas, USA Dec 3, 2008 A dark brown beer with a 1 inch tan frothy head that settles quickly to a thin film. Aroma of rich and slightly creamy dark malt. Flavor is pale bitter and dominated by dark roasted malt. Texture is slghtly creamy and finish is a little harsh. Mouthfeel is very fizzy and carbonated. Lacing is heavy and intricate. I give this beer a good rating because of the incredible amount of flavor for such a low %. graham515 (319), Houston, Texas, USA Feb 20, 2007 Very fruity aroma. Served from the tap was a nice dark brown with a small tan head. Rich malt and nutty flavors along with some of the fruitiness from the nose. A very nice brown ale fly (1252), austin, Tejas, USA Jul 31, 2006 Milds could save my life. I could stop drinking things like barleywines. Sure. Like that’s really gunna happen. This was a mild, okay? and as such will have me hard pressed to rave, but it had some nice malt in there and was easy on the hops and came across as a VERY easily quaffable brew that could keep me happy for a bit until I started my usual bitching and wanted it to be prostituted for something with more and more and more until a mild it was no longer. grat (433), ST. Louis, Missouri, USA Jul 21, 2006 Milk chocolate colored beer. White foamy head. Nose is slightly acrid with a nice metallic tinge. This lifts and is followed by a cocoa sweetness that mingles well (and Loosely) with the carbonation. Very winey ale because of the thickness of the carbonation and the thinness of the palate. This forces the brew to have a metallic finish to the malt. Hops are existent but only subtly at the end with a c-hop bitterness. Interesting and very drinkable example of the style. Mostly true to what I’ve experienced from a mild. HumuloneRed (746), Vancouver, Washington, USA Jul 9, 2006 On draught at pub. Pours a clear dark brown with red highlights and good head and lacing. The aroma has earthy and chocolate notes. The flavor is sweet and bready with chocolate, earth, and roasted malt with some hints of smoke. Medium in body with a great mouthfeel and smooth finish. A mouth full of flavor for a 2.8% beer! Kudos to Josh for brewing this. IMO more craft brewers should be brewing tasty session beers like this.
