motelpogo (4082), Plzen, Czech Republic Feb 8, 2007 rbsxg, bottle. quite pale yellow with a hint of murk and a lasting head. authentic hefe aroma - vanilla and banana and a bit of shortcake. mellow texture, bready with some light peach and a little dandelion tea tang. well-made, obviously no accident, and very drinkable bridge (658), Randwick, Australia Feb 10, 2006 Pale cloudy yelllow, with a decent head. Lovely, strong banana and cloves aroma with a touch of tarty lemon. A little bland on tasting, but it proved to be a good quaffer. Not too much in terms of body, but a decent hefe. highlandlad (1139), Sydney, Australia Dec 30, 2005 From memory, this was easily the best of the African beers at the Sydney Xmas ding-dong. A surfeit of crap Australian wheat beers has rather turned me off these styles, but this was a classic German hefe by any measure. Cloudy lemon colour, short head. Typical hefe nose of wheat yeast and bananas.
Very refreshing, a little tart, with the usual bananas and cloves. (Bottle, Sydney RateBeer Xmas gathering 2005) mullet (755), Melbourne, Australia Dec 23, 2005 Sydney thingo. I liked this one a lot. Very pale. An intensely clovey, lemony aroma with a reasonable tartness and some yeasty flavour in the best way. Great lively mouthfeeI. I thought it was somewhat different to the Bavarian stuff - specifically I thought this had a lot less malt character - but it’s unique and brilliant in its own way. Yum. Sully (1361), Stanmore, New South Wales, Australia Dec 22, 2005 I used to avoid rthese beers in the past but a number of pleasurable experiences have turned me around somewhat. This presents as expected with a hazy light golden body and small ead. The nose is quite a diversion from the numerous hoppy styles had on the night, typical cloviness and big banana esters. The wheatiness of this beer is quite prominent and balances beautifully with the citric and spicy flavours. Thanks Per, gor this and many others.
