Bottle: Poured a clear golden color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of Belgian malt with fruity ester and light barnyard notes. Taste is not as funky as expected but notes of light barnyard and fruity ester are nice but fall a bit short from some of the style best offering. Body is about average with good carbonation. Well done but unfortunately lacking some character.

On tap, pours a copper colour. Lots of hops on this one, and a little citrusy. Smooth mouthfeel - faint bitterness. Great IPA.

22oz bomber. Light yellow in colour with some haze. The aroma is saison like but light. The taste is doughy bread with a strong hit of black pepper and a little citrus. Not nearly as complex as I would have hoped but at 5.5% I dont know what I should have expected. This is an admirable effort but tastes less impressive than other saisons from other North American brewers. Decent but not great.

On tap at the Alibi Room. Dark orange apperance; beer has SOME haze to it. Fairly transparent. Nice thin head sitting on top. Not a bad looking beer. Fruity yeast aroma, with a slight off-putting funky malt aroma as well. Not an overly pungent beer. Toom much of a malty aroma for me. Needs more fruit and yeast. There is also some off putting malt flavor as well. A bit of fruit and yeast, but not enough to make this good. Slight nasty tea flavor as well, I am sure this can be attributed to the malt. Somewhat smooth. Not a bad saison, but not that great. Glad to have tried a B.C. beer at a B.C. bar.

Derek’s bottle and he has confirmed better on tap. Good summery beer, yellow with bubbles and creamy, soapy head, lacey. Pepperywhite, although it says black pepper. A little funky tasting, yeasty aroma.

Orange-honey saison pours into tulip with thick white cap. Fruity esters dominate the aroma, light metallic and yeast. Flavor is understated compared with the aroma dominated by pepper, dough, light herbal tea then hoppy bitterness in the finish. Flowers linger. Crisp and refreshing but needs some greater complexity for me.

Colour was a clear amber beneath a creamy white single finger-thick head. Aroma ’maybe’ of a few things, being maybe some bread, maybe some citrus, maybe not hop, and maybe not malt. Taste showed a bit of malt and an equal bit of hop, but I don’t know about the black pepper as indicated on the label. Mouth was okay, slightly sharp, and it finished with a sort of ’sour’ bite.
