Commercial Description:
Only available bottled (not bottle conditioned).
This was the first beer brewed for the Duchy Originals organic range. The beer is brewed using a rare breed of organic barley - Plumage Archer - harvested from The Prince’s Home Farm at Highgrove.
Duchy Originals Organic Ale has opted for a traditional, British barley variety Plumage Archer to give the beer a rich depth of flavour.
The organic hops for this delicious beer are also British, First Gold, a new dwarf hop variety grown in Kent and Worcestershire. The beer is brewed to Duchy Originals' recipe.
The Duchy Originals Organic Ale is a ruby-coloured flavour-packed beer which combines the rich caramel flavours of the barley malt with the signature ripe orange nuance of the First Gold hop.

A hazy dark amber ale with a thin off white head. Light herbal hops and malt in aroma, faint. In mouth, good crisp ale with good resinous hops, light caramel, and light mineral notes, herbaceous qualities. Nice ale. Bought at LCBO. BB 5/12/08.

Bottle. Pours an orange/brown, just a small ring of white head. Aroma of honey, pear, raisin, and apple juice. Flavor of wheat, lots of apple, tartness. Sweet, light body, very simple and mellow. This beer is subtle, not in your face with flavor, which is why I liked it a lot. Tasty and light. Delicious.

Bottle. Nice aroma of honey, raisin, sweet caramel malt. Flavor not as rich, esters get lost in the mouth, reduced to a caramel maltiness. Somewhat watery. No hops to be found, though I imagine that’s due to some time on the shelf. Getting slammed in the ratings recently...wasn’t unpleasant, just not particularly memorable.

bottle, dark brown color with milkshake head, aromas of caramel and malt, flavors lean toward dry wood and malt with a finish reminiscent of bitter leftover coffee

Bottle. The head dissipated almost as fast as I poured it. Nice amber colour and body. Seemingly low octane ale. A boring example of bitters. The label on this bottle reads, Duchy Originals Organic "English Ale", I believe these two to be the same.

Clear amber colour no head other than a thin film of tiny bubbles. Noticable caramel nose with some fruity hops. Medium bodied, malty and slight fruit on the palate. Ok, if a bit uninspired. Had worse.
