Commercial Description:
Only available bottled (not bottle conditioned).
This was the first beer brewed for the Duchy Originals organic range. The beer is brewed using a rare breed of organic barley - Plumage Archer - harvested from The Prince’s Home Farm at Highgrove.
Duchy Originals Organic Ale has opted for a traditional, British barley variety Plumage Archer to give the beer a rich depth of flavour.
The organic hops for this delicious beer are also British, First Gold, a new dwarf hop variety grown in Kent and Worcestershire. The beer is brewed to Duchy Originals' recipe.
The Duchy Originals Organic Ale is a ruby-coloured flavour-packed beer which combines the rich caramel flavours of the barley malt with the signature ripe orange nuance of the First Gold hop.

Bottle 500 ml (LCBO)
Amber in colour with golden hints, good well sited crown on top.
Good, clean fresh hoppy nose well supported by malty character below. Aroma set up simplistic but in this case worked well. (6.75/10)
Medium bodied ale with clear yet short burst of green bitters, woody with acidic oak notes. Tangy finish with soapy hop blend. This ale has some character but missing true soul of greatness.

bottle from the LCBO. aroma is kinda sweet, but the hops are definetly there. flavour is bready, and again, a little sweet, but the hops really come through in the flavour. I really enjoyed this, very very easy to drink.

Bottle courtesy of tupalev. It’s funny, tupalev’s friend brings him bottles of this from England (which tupalev was kind of enough to share with us) and then a few weeks later it hits the shelves of the LCBO. Pours a clear orange-copper with an average size somewhat-lasting beige head. Aroma’s a little sweet with fruit, caramel malt, grain, bread and earthy hops. Flavour’s malty and grainy upfront followed by bread, fruit and grassy hops -- like a sweet mild Bitter. Light to medium bodied. I’d like it a little less sweet and a tad hoppier but this is still pretty good and easy to drink.

Dark cognac like poor with a foamy off white head with good lacing. Aromas of sweet caramel, sweet bread, alcohol, plums and a hint of bananas. Very herbal palate with good bitter aftertaste. Flavors are not as sweet as you would expect. Nicely carbonated. Good overal ESB.

LCBO bottle purchase- Pours deep amber, topped with a frothy beige cap. The aroma is of fresh hops, green fresh cut grass, bubblegum, maybe some bread, biscuit. The flavours are very fresh and dripping with hops. Nice sweet caramel, bready/doughy, thrills gum, a touch of leafy greens. FInishes puckering, bitter, good.

(500 ml bottle) So-so flavor, pretty nice mouthfeel...Pours clear medium-dark copper with four fingers of frothy biscuit head. Aroma is kind of a confusion of malt sweetness, sour, perfumy hops, bread. Mouthfeel quite smooth, feels pretty full for a bitter, but a little fizzy in finish. Flavor is kind of a mirror of the aroma only a little weaker. Light sourness also present in taste, maybe a little metallic as well. Has some bitterness but it is low-key for this style. This is about as good as our local Gritty’s Best Bitter. Pass.

Nice amber color and a good head. The flavour is a nice mix of malt, flower and fruit, and the bitterness is nicely balanced and grows towards the finish.
