Commercial Description:
Only available bottled (not bottle conditioned).
This was the first beer brewed for the Duchy Originals organic range. The beer is brewed using a rare breed of organic barley - Plumage Archer - harvested from The Prince’s Home Farm at Highgrove.
Duchy Originals Organic Ale has opted for a traditional, British barley variety Plumage Archer to give the beer a rich depth of flavour.
The organic hops for this delicious beer are also British, First Gold, a new dwarf hop variety grown in Kent and Worcestershire. The beer is brewed to Duchy Originals' recipe.
The Duchy Originals Organic Ale is a ruby-coloured flavour-packed beer which combines the rich caramel flavours of the barley malt with the signature ripe orange nuance of the First Gold hop.

500 ml bottle. Clear orange-amber beer with a white head. Aroma is quite leafy with orange marmalade notes and a soft earthy character as well. There is a bit of cherry and a touch of celery as well. Lovely malt character. Very British tasting (perhaps unsurprisingly). Flavour also shows soft leafy hoppiness behind the sweet pale malt. Decent brew.

Pours copper with a thin ring of white bubbles. Smells of citrus, earthy tea and pepper. Tastes of oranges and aspirin with a tangy finish.

Bottle. Pours a nice amber colour with a small mostly diminishing creamy off-whitish head leaving a decent lacing. Aroma of toastymalt, caramel, good fruitiness. Flavour of fruity hops, some caramel, toasted malt, barley, some citrus. Pleasant bitterness in the finish.

Bottle: Hazy amber, dark, moderate to large fluffy sand colored head, patchy lacing.   Pale malt nose, even softer hop presense   Seems to be a very slight foral/herbal aspect.   Some biscuit, dull plant like flavors as well.   Maybe like those indoor cactus plants.   Soft malts, Marris otter maybe?   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Fairly clean finish, soft biscuit lingers.   Enjoyable.

500 ML Bottle-Poured a cloudy amber color w/a slight head. Floral hopped aroma. Stale bread dough/yeast flavor w/a creamy texture I didn’t find too appealing. Didn’t find this to have much of a hop flavor, maybe the barley was just too strong & overpowered it. Did have a little bit of a bitter finish but it wasn’t enough to save this one, didn’t taste nearly as good as it looked. I wouldn’t drink it again.

Enjoyed this beer poured from a 500 mL bottle; mine was labeled "English Ale," but assuming this beer is the same. The aroma was quite good, sweet floral hops, with piney and citrus hints too. Some caramel malt, and some fruity scents too of pear and orange. It poured a cloudy, orange-amber color with a thin white head that was quickly gone. The taste was a unique with mild bitterness, some sour aspects and a hearty wheatiness; it really did taste extra fresh and organic. The beer was wet with only light carbonation and a slightly dry finish; it had a grainy, natural taste and texture. When I was done the aftertaste and feeling in my mouth was almost as if I had just eaten a pear.

Bottle. A hazed reddish orange color (a/ka/ murkey amber) with a quickly laced white bubley head. Malty, caramel, bright hops, flowers, with an earthy base. Wet on the palate with an organic grain like finish.
