nimbleprop (819), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA Nov 12, 2006 Poured a murky copper orange with a lacing but whispy white head. Malty aroma with just a hit of hops, aroma similar to most ESBs. Satisfying flavor, but not extraordinary. Pleasant and refreshing but hardly unique. BigBen2120 (688), Derry, New Hampshire, USA Nov 11, 2006 Murky copper body with a finger of off-white head. Smells like malt and Enlish hops. Tastes malty with a fair bit of hops. Flavor is not overpowering... Medium bodied... Rather tasty IMO. A solid ale. bb (2905), Martinez, California, USA Nov 7, 2006 Bottle. Bronze beer with a nice off-white head. Toffee/malt aroma with some grass. Nice malt/caramel flavor with earthy/citrus/grassy hops. Good balance. Medium bodied. Easy drinking. Lingering balanced flavor that lasts. aaschenbach (3), Germantown, Maryland, USA does not count Nov 5, 2006 Pours a cloudy amber color with a thick head complied of large bubbles that slowly fades away. An unpleasant aroma is followed by a not so pleasant taste. Quixote18 (230), Johnson City, Tennessee, USA Nov 3, 2006 Poured from a bottle into an English pint glass, this hazy amber ale developed a small beige head with a few soapy bubbles floating around in there too. Very effervescent appearance, but I didn’t feel it was overcarbonated in the texture. The nosing was initially grainy, with a crisp hop presence. This mellowed after a little warming into a smoother bready malt aroma. The flavor was on the dry side, not particularly notable, but still pleasant. Finishes bitter. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA Nov 2, 2006 Clear amber with a thin head. Sticky English hop aroma, mild, a bit spicy with citrus hints. Buttery caramel notes also. Nice big smooth palate. Toffee and mellow, slightly woody hop flavor. Perfect balancing bitterness. Lingering hop finish. Nice ale. nick76 (2634), Tampa, Florida, USA Oct 30, 2006 The aroma is sweet with caramel, yeast, and grassy hops. The appearance is orange/gold with a small head that is not unlike many of the style. The flavor is sour and bitter with malt and nuts. The palate is thin but again not a bad thing for this style. Overall it’s drinkable but I would have liked it better if it was not sour. pnista (1008), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Oct 30, 2006 Pours a clear reddish amber to copper with a white head, quickly disappearing to nothing. The nose is rather bland and empty. Light subtle sweetness (caramel?) and a tiny bit of hops. This could use a bit more depth. The palate is average to slightly better than average. Very liquidy, with moderate carbonation providing some volume in the mouth, The flavor is a touch deeper than a aroma. Sweet caramel is less apparent here than are burnt, almost slighly sour flavors. Hops are almost gone. There’s something slightly grapey. Not great really, but I’ve drank plenty worse.
