Fresh hops taste, then a really fine malt underpinning. Medium bodied, well balanced, fresh, very hoppy mouthfeel. A fine one! Bigsilky (322), Charleston, USA

Nice healthy head that follows the beer to the end of the glass. Amber rich hue. This was a little vegetal on the nose, the hops may be a little too earthy, or tired. I could detect a faint element of toffee and maybe a little biscuity malt, all loosely checked by a girly-man hop accent. All in all I really did like this beer and the balance it achieves. The individual elements don’t seem to be worth much. Very "British" if you know what I mean. Gethinbeer (1001), Nova Scotia, Canada

Light golden cloudy appearance with just a hint of head. I expected more from this beer, but as I taste it, just seems dull. A bitter with a musty taste. This beer is just boring. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 30, 2006 It would have been hard for this to have had a much better appearance - good gold orange PA color, very classy bottle and label. I didn’t care for the aroma all that much though - kinda stinkyeasty in the bitter vein. Beer is generally dry, with some toasted grain, muted caramel and medium bittering. Medium to session weight. Finishes off long and lightly bitter. Fairly clean drinking, but not foremost among my beloved English bitters. hopscotch (5472), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 16, 2006 Bottle... Clear, amber ale with a large, frothy, off-white head. Good retention. Aroma is bland, but earthy with light notes of sweat, straw and white bread. The flavor leans just a hair on the bitter side of balance. No malty goodness; just mild, earthy, herbal hops. Medium-bodied and almost creamy with lively carbonation. Short, crisp, gently bitter finish. Boring! beervana (781), Libertyville, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jun 2, 2006 (04.23.06) One pint, 0.9 oz brown bottle from Whole Foods, Deerfield, IL. Poured clear amber with small white head. Good carbonation. Fresh fruity/malty aroma. Medium bodied ale that starts dry with light toasted malt flavor. Finished dry with light hop bitterness. Mild delicate malt flavor. Well-balanced, this is a delicious drinkable ale. Hard to believe that this very good beer was brewed by Wychwood as I tried three of their other beers and found them to be wanting.
