Commercial Description:
Only available bottled (not bottle conditioned).
This was the first beer brewed for the Duchy Originals organic range. The beer is brewed using a rare breed of organic barley - Plumage Archer - harvested from The Prince’s Home Farm at Highgrove.
Duchy Originals Organic Ale has opted for a traditional, British barley variety Plumage Archer to give the beer a rich depth of flavour.
The organic hops for this delicious beer are also British, First Gold, a new dwarf hop variety grown in Kent and Worcestershire. The beer is brewed to Duchy Originals' recipe.
The Duchy Originals Organic Ale is a ruby-coloured flavour-packed beer which combines the rich caramel flavours of the barley malt with the signature ripe orange nuance of the First Gold hop.

Bottled. A mid brown coloured beer with a slight of white head. The aroma is fruity and malty and very English. The taste has good body, nice fruity malts and a good bitter character. There is a little juicy hop late on. Quite bready in places and suprisingly good.

Bottle. Pours a hazed copper with a small white head. Nose is malty and sweet with light hoppiness, bit of melon, iced tea, light caramel, and dried fruit notes. Taste is also very malty with big caramel and melon notes. Light earthy hops, sweet tea, bit of lemon, light cake sweetness, and light honey. Body is medium with an above average carbonation feel. finishes with honey glazed cake, light iced tea, earthy hops, light flowery notes, bit of lemon and caramel. Very "delicate" beer. The flavors and aroma seem as if they can get easily out of whack with improper storage problems. Thankfully, this turned out wonderful.

Orangey amber in color with a thick collar of off-white foam that settles to a nice, thin film that appears to show proper carbonation. Aroma is definitely english though incredibly diminished. Fruity malt stands above the hops or malt complexity. Flavor is softly toffee-like in malt with just a touch of hop that is integrated nicely, a hint of sourness in the background, saltiness, but too much carbonation and overly dry, saltine cracker malt distracts from the overall palate.

Aroma: touch of flowers and crystal malt giving way to a slightly easter egg chocolate. Appearance: dark amber red with a tiny pointless head. Flavour: crystal malt with a touch of orange. Palate: thin with decent carbonation. Finishes a touch nutty.

Now laballed "Organic English Ale" or at least I figure this is the same beer. Its definitely an ESB. And a fairly nice bottled example at that. Nose is straiight up caramel with a flutter of orange blossom and grassy hops. Well balanced flavor, with earthy caramel malts, grassy, dusty, almost cobwebby hops. Medium bitter finish is perfectly integrated, just the right bittering levels. Just an easy drinking ale with character.

Herbal and flowery nose...spritzy smelling. Tea colored with a firm, creamy white head. Malty-sweet with sweetbread and biscuits popping out and some butterscotch notes as well. Some hints of toffee and light caramel as well. Very mellow and almost hopless. A very easy drinker due to its watery feel ont he palate.
