Commercial Description:
Only available bottled (not bottle conditioned).
This was the first beer brewed for the Duchy Originals organic range. The beer is brewed using a rare breed of organic barley - Plumage Archer - harvested from The Prince’s Home Farm at Highgrove.
Duchy Originals Organic Ale has opted for a traditional, British barley variety Plumage Archer to give the beer a rich depth of flavour.
The organic hops for this delicious beer are also British, First Gold, a new dwarf hop variety grown in Kent and Worcestershire. The beer is brewed to Duchy Originals' recipe.
The Duchy Originals Organic Ale is a ruby-coloured flavour-packed beer which combines the rich caramel flavours of the barley malt with the signature ripe orange nuance of the First Gold hop.

Biggish yellowish head. Slightly hazy brownish amber body with small floaties. Fruity wooden perfumy aroma. Sharp dry-sweetish fruity wooden taste with toffee, perfume, and metal notes. Sharpish mouthfeel. Fullish body. Dry citric fruity wooden aftertaste with lingering perfumy notes. Meaty, papery notes linger. Not bad, but not great, either. (0.5l bottle, from some corner store in Copenhagen. BBD 2009-04-13.)

500 ml bottle. Clear, dark amber body with a medium but dense off-white head. Aroma is light malty, slightly burnt caramel and floor sealing. Flavor is sweet malty and caramel with a discreet bitterness. Medium body, quite smooth but rather boring.

Bottle 50 cl. Pour a brownish golden with a white head and a spicy, hoppy aroma with notes of wet grass. The tast is spicy and hoppy with notes of oranges, other citrus fruits, sweet malts, sweet grains, old hay and herbs. A nice spicy finish makes this a nce bitter1

Murky orange pour. Thin white head. Grassy, hoppy aroma. Front end has hints of spices with undertone of oranges. Nice and crisp on the palate. Aftertaste is just subtly bitter.

Bottle. Pours a golden amber mahogany in color with a pure white head. It has a clean, fresh, tangy hop aroma with a slight citrus touch. It has a rich, full, malty flavor with a ripe, fruity citrus note. It has a medium mouthfeel with a clean, refreshing finish.

Tasted 30/10/2008, 500ml bottle from Regionals, while tending to the pilot batch of Yeastie Boys ’Kid Chocolate’. Pours a hazy amber with a reddish hue. Sweet plummy stewed (oxidised) malt on the nose with a little floral ester and herbal/lemon hops. Same in the mouth, with a good malt depth and a nice balancing bitterness and full hop flavour. Suspect this would be a bloody lovely drop closer to home but it’s dropped off to a nice wee quaffer this far away...
