Commercial Description:
Only available bottled (not bottle conditioned).
This was the first beer brewed for the Duchy Originals organic range. The beer is brewed using a rare breed of organic barley - Plumage Archer - harvested from The Prince’s Home Farm at Highgrove.
Duchy Originals Organic Ale has opted for a traditional, British barley variety Plumage Archer to give the beer a rich depth of flavour.
The organic hops for this delicious beer are also British, First Gold, a new dwarf hop variety grown in Kent and Worcestershire. The beer is brewed to Duchy Originals' recipe.
The Duchy Originals Organic Ale is a ruby-coloured flavour-packed beer which combines the rich caramel flavours of the barley malt with the signature ripe orange nuance of the First Gold hop.

From the comments in the store I thought this would be great, but it was actually disappointing. Amber, small beige head. Very sweet and musty malt nose. Starts sweet, unpleasant astringent mid, mild lasting hop bitterness in finish which somehow isn’t quite right.

Bottle: Poured a deep slightly cloudy amber ale with a nice foamy head with average retention. Aroma of fresh English hops is quite interesting with nice dose of light caramel malt. Taste is quite dry with some English hops coming out quite clearly with a nice base of English caramel malt. Body is full for the style with some adequate carbonation.

500 ml bottle from Bevmo. Hazy copper brown with a slight fizzy head. Caramel and barley aroma. Sweet slightly tangy bread taste with a mildly bitter finish.

Bottled.Judging by Duff's last few beers he's clearly been on the Waitrose run. This beer is a exclusive Waitrose (a better London supermarket chain). Golden brown, malty and sweet it in keeping with the Wychwood style. It's brewed from Prince Charles' not-for-profit Dutchy label.

(500 ml bottle, bought in Denmark). Amber colour, moderate head. Lovely hoppy aroma, hints of heather, tobacco and spices. Flavour is nutty and biscuity, a hint of toffee but not really sweet, good bitterness which lingers in the aftertaste. Very nice.

Has a real good aroma: Sweet, malty and caramel. Flavor like most other ales. Appearance: Dark golden. Big head.

Pour is clear copper color with a fast fading but tight bubbled tan head...smell is loaded with lots of bready caramel malts and faint notes of grass as well...taste is bready and grassy...somewhat metallic toward the finish...

Amber apperance. No head. Quite soft and velvety. Soft, medium bitter finish. A bit metallic flavour, otherwise a good beer.
