Commercial Description:
Only available bottled (not bottle conditioned).
This was the first beer brewed for the Duchy Originals organic range. The beer is brewed using a rare breed of organic barley - Plumage Archer - harvested from The Prince’s Home Farm at Highgrove.
Duchy Originals Organic Ale has opted for a traditional, British barley variety Plumage Archer to give the beer a rich depth of flavour.
The organic hops for this delicious beer are also British, First Gold, a new dwarf hop variety grown in Kent and Worcestershire. The beer is brewed to Duchy Originals' recipe.
The Duchy Originals Organic Ale is a ruby-coloured flavour-packed beer which combines the rich caramel flavours of the barley malt with the signature ripe orange nuance of the First Gold hop.

Amber colour, tiny white head. Aroma has bitter hops. Flavour is more of caramel malts and bread. Clean palate. Light bitter.

Pours a yellow orange color with a fairly thick white head and absolutely fantastic lacing. Not much to the aroma. A bit of bittering hops on top of a fairly malty english ale. The American in me wants more hops, more alcohol, more malt, more more more but it’s a solid easy drinking beer as it is.

Hazy orange color with a small to medium sized foamy off white colored head. Nose is caramel, alcohol, sugar, muted hops, and malt. Is is acidic with notes of grass and a bit of caramel. Decent bitter finish that is mild and somewhat floral. Not much to say.

I purchased this from a Waitrose shop, an upmarket supermarket in London. I had this with a decent ratatouille and some very good Welsh lamb cutlets. A good choice Even though the whacko bonny Prince Chuckles blesses this I will rate it as a good beer nevertheless. Good amber colour and hop balance. This is a beer that makes you feel good for altruistic as well as organoleptic reasons.

Golden yellow color. Fizzy white head. Slightly hoppy flavor with mild floral notes. Some citric and malt tastes. Nothing spectacular, but perhaps worth a try once..

Kind of a muddy copper pour with some head. Flavor is sweet and carmelly with some grassiness. A bit of fruit, some hops, some caramel in the flavor. Ale with decent hop flavor here, pretty nice flavor.

Clear amber with a thin head. Sticky English hop aroma, mild, a bit spicy with citrus hints. Buttery caramel notes also. Nice big smooth palate. Toffee and mellow, slightly woody hop flavor. Perfect balancing bitterness. Lingering hop finish. Nice ale.

(bottle) hazy brown. Malt aroma. Flavor is slightly sweetish malt, some mustiness, with only a little hops in the finish.
