Commercial Description:
Only available bottled (not bottle conditioned).
This was the first beer brewed for the Duchy Originals organic range. The beer is brewed using a rare breed of organic barley - Plumage Archer - harvested from The Prince’s Home Farm at Highgrove.
Duchy Originals Organic Ale has opted for a traditional, British barley variety Plumage Archer to give the beer a rich depth of flavour.
The organic hops for this delicious beer are also British, First Gold, a new dwarf hop variety grown in Kent and Worcestershire. The beer is brewed to Duchy Originals' recipe.
The Duchy Originals Organic Ale is a ruby-coloured flavour-packed beer which combines the rich caramel flavours of the barley malt with the signature ripe orange nuance of the First Gold hop.

Pours a clear reddish amber to copper with a white head, quickly disappearing to nothing. The nose is rather bland and empty. Light subtle sweetness (caramel?) and a tiny bit of hops. This could use a bit more depth. The palate is average to slightly better than average. Very liquidy, with moderate carbonation providing some volume in the mouth, The flavor is a touch deeper than a aroma. Sweet caramel is less apparent here than are burnt, almost slighly sour flavors. Hops are almost gone. There’s something slightly grapey. Not great really, but I’ve drank plenty worse.

From bottle. Fruity aroma of pears and hops. Light golden cloudy appearance with just a hint of head. I expected more from this beer, but as I taste it, just seems dull. A bitter with a musty taste. This beer is just boring.

500 ml bottle from the LCBO. pours orangish red with a mid sized tan head. almost no aromas but whats there is caramel malts and light hops. flavours are nicely balanced between the caramel and hop components but are to small to be really enjoyable. over carbonation makes this one lose a point in palatability. pretty good but not something id buy for the price they charge here in ontario.

Pours a caramel color with a slight red tone to it. Smell has a barley tone to it with a mild sweet edge to it. Taste is somewhat interesting with a pronounced barley flavor to it. It has a frothy mouth to it that feels good. You could drink a lot in a sitting and it is worth trying, but I have to say I doubt this is the finest example of the style.

Bottle. (as "Organic English Ale"). Sweet caramel aroma. Cloudy orange body, small off-white head. Flavor is moderately sweet, very malty and caramel. Not bad, but not terribly interesting.

Poured a murky copper orange with a lacing but whispy white head. Malty aroma with just a hit of hops, aroma similar to most ESBs. Satisfying flavor, but not extraordinary. Pleasant and refreshing but hardly unique.

Pours cloudy copper with a thin head. Slight malt, light dry finish. Average.
