Commercial Description:
Only available bottled (not bottle conditioned).
This was the first beer brewed for the Duchy Originals organic range. The beer is brewed using a rare breed of organic barley - Plumage Archer - harvested from The Prince’s Home Farm at Highgrove.
Duchy Originals Organic Ale has opted for a traditional, British barley variety Plumage Archer to give the beer a rich depth of flavour.
The organic hops for this delicious beer are also British, First Gold, a new dwarf hop variety grown in Kent and Worcestershire. The beer is brewed to Duchy Originals' recipe.
The Duchy Originals Organic Ale is a ruby-coloured flavour-packed beer which combines the rich caramel flavours of the barley malt with the signature ripe orange nuance of the First Gold hop.

Poured a murky copper orange with a lacing but whispy white head. Malty aroma with just a hit of hops, aroma similar to most ESBs. Satisfying flavor, but not extraordinary. Pleasant and refreshing but hardly unique.

Nice clear orangy amber brew, average white cap, pretty fine lacing. Nice solid sweet but excellend bready quality, slight cola, weak toffee, milk?? Top end spice, tarty sourness, quiet caramel, mild, drinkable. Medium light bodied, ok bitter finish, slight fruit aftertaste.

Bottle. Beautiful copper, clear, with a massive head that laces well. This is what a beer should look like. Peaty-malt aroma, with very little hop notes. Heavy, but dry, with a bit of a sour finish.

Is this Wychwood? I’ll be damned! Beautiful reddish brown colour, high carbonation. Aroma and flavour is nicely malty and very hoppy. Long and dry bitter finish. Nicely balanced but it needs more complexity for a top rating IMHO.

Nice amber body with a light head. Malts, wheat, oats dominate the aroma. Very refreshing body, good malts but very thin. Again, a thin ending...

Pours a nice, slightly hazy orange-brown with a small but long-lasting head with some nice lacing. Aroma is pleasant, brown sugar and fresh hops. Taste is quite nice, lightly toasted malt and some diacetyl very well balanced by anglo-hops. Good hoppy finish, decent carbonation and quite creamy body. Not a bad bitter!

50 cl. bottle. Pours a slightly hazy orange/copper. Grain and caramel malty aroma with some dusty hay, grass, and orangey hops. Light caramel malt flavor with an underlying orangey tartness. Moderate citrusy and grassy hop bitterness on the finish, which unfortunately leads into a soapy aftertaste. Kind of a weird slippery mouthfeel in this one. Not that great, but at least it’s for a good cause (I think).

Hey, I just noticed it’s a Wychwood product without a wanky label. They can do it when they want to. Copper colour with a close, robust white head. Nice balance between maltiness and bitterness. However there is quite a pronounced taste of alcohol in the finish which should not happen at this abv. Rather spoils what would otherwise be a very good beer.
