Commercial Description:
Only available bottled (not bottle conditioned).
This was the first beer brewed for the Duchy Originals organic range. The beer is brewed using a rare breed of organic barley - Plumage Archer - harvested from The Prince’s Home Farm at Highgrove.
Duchy Originals Organic Ale has opted for a traditional, British barley variety Plumage Archer to give the beer a rich depth of flavour.
The organic hops for this delicious beer are also British, First Gold, a new dwarf hop variety grown in Kent and Worcestershire. The beer is brewed to Duchy Originals' recipe.
The Duchy Originals Organic Ale is a ruby-coloured flavour-packed beer which combines the rich caramel flavours of the barley malt with the signature ripe orange nuance of the First Gold hop.

Bottle. Good malty aroma, sweet honeylike molasses notes. Amber color with white foamy head. Flavor is sweet and slightly dry on the finish, with a haylike aftertaste. Flavor disappears on the tongue on the duration. A bit watery and weak overall. Carbonation is mild. Smells better than it tastes.

Pours gold with a small white head. Diacetyl aroma, backed by light earthy hops and faint toffee. The flavor is buttery and harsh, with a metallic and slightly hoppy finish. There is a hint of liqueur in the aftertaste.

Dark cognac like poor with a foamy off white head with good lacing. Aromas of sweet caramel, sweet bread, alcohol, plums and a hint of bananas. Very herbal palate with good bitter aftertaste. Flavors are not as sweet as you would expect. Nicely carbonated. Good overal ESB.

Malty smell and taste. Carbonated mouth feel. It’s best quality is it’s crispness. Smooth, not bad, but not great.

"Yeah!!!!!! Another beer to drink but this one special it claims on the back of the bottle “Suitable for vegetarians” I can finally drink a beer now without risk of getting a giant hunk of pork in it. Beer appears to be hazy honey brown with a very tall very thick very long lasting cap on top, the lacing is stupidly thick. Strong aroma I can smell it from across the table, this aroma seems wrong; arm pit, wood, mild toffee, touch of skunky hops. The taste is at least sweet and malty with a bitter finish. Some notable hops, pepper, mild coffee, touch of a metallic finish. Brew goes down smooth and is medium bodied. Good beer nothing special would never purchase again unless I found it on tap maybe."
