Commercial Description:
Only available bottled (not bottle conditioned).
This was the first beer brewed for the Duchy Originals organic range. The beer is brewed using a rare breed of organic barley - Plumage Archer - harvested from The Prince’s Home Farm at Highgrove.
Duchy Originals Organic Ale has opted for a traditional, British barley variety Plumage Archer to give the beer a rich depth of flavour.
The organic hops for this delicious beer are also British, First Gold, a new dwarf hop variety grown in Kent and Worcestershire. The beer is brewed to Duchy Originals' recipe.
The Duchy Originals Organic Ale is a ruby-coloured flavour-packed beer which combines the rich caramel flavours of the barley malt with the signature ripe orange nuance of the First Gold hop.

Whole Foods, Baton Rouge, La., 500 bottle. Light copper pour, thin, sticky white head with a wee bit of lacing. Fresh, but faint, grassy aroma, hints of Christmas spices. Decent subtle bitterness, faint fruitness, some nuttiness. Finishes with a buttery note. Nothing really jumps out and grabs you in the flavor, but it is clean and smooth. Good session possibilities. Palate, slightly thin, but not watery.

Malt and hops in the aroma. Head disappeared swiftly. Nice colour. Too much carbonation but a hugely malty taste, leading satisfactorily into a bitter conclusion. Wonder if HRH drinks this stuff.

Light clear brown color, short off-white head. Aroma of english hop, some caramel malt. Taste is little sweet and caramel malty, quite bitter. Bitter and dry palate.

Amberish pour. malty sweetness on the nose. flavor is also malty and has some residual sweetness to go with a bit of hop bite at the end. Cracker flavors...pretty bland. Just not my style.

A very nice flowery hops aroma. Tan with a light brown head. Hops are much lighter in flavor - suprisingly mild but with a full body. A very nice bitter.

50cl bottle at home. cloudy orange, small offwhite head. aroma is dominatd by bitterhops , caramel and toffee. faint smoke or burned plastic. not very appetizing. flavor is caramelly, herbal, bitterhoppy, faint sawdust. much better than aroma, a little too bittersweet for my taste though.

Bottled. Chestnut coloured, initially good but short lived beige head and moderate condition. Peachy hop and fruity malt aromas. Low hop flavour, some butterscotch and full bodied malt in the mouth and a mix of hop bitterness and more butterscotch in the finish. Doesnt have that typical Wychwood taste, probably due to it not being in the typical Wychwood clear bottles.
