Light copper pour, thin, sticky white head with a wee bit of lacing. Fresh, but faint, grassy aroma, hints of Christmas spices. Decent subtle bitterness, faint fruitness, some nuttiness. Finishes with a buttery note. Nothing really jumps out and grabs you in the flavor, but it is clean and smooth. Good session possibilities. Palate, slightly thin, but not watery. hughie (3086), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 29, 2005 Malt and hops in the aroma. Head disappeared swiftly. Nice colour. Too much carbonation but a hugely malty taste, leading satisfactorily into a bitter conclusion. Wonder if HRH drinks this stuff. caesar (3034), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands

Hops are much lighter in flavor - suprisingly mild but with a full body. A very nice bitter. presario (3010), Calgary, Alberta, Canada

cloudy orange, small offwhite head.
aroma is dominatd by bitterhops , caramel and toffee. faint smoke or burned plastic. not very appetizing.
flavor is caramelly, herbal, bitterhoppy, faint sawdust. much better than aroma, a little too bittersweet for my taste though. rauchbier (3004), Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, England
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 23, 2003 Bottled. Chestnut coloured, initially good but short lived beige head and moderate condition. Peachy hop and fruity malt aromas. Low hop flavour, some butterscotch and full bodied malt in the mouth and a mix of hop bitterness and more butterscotch in the finish. Doesnt have that typical Wychwood taste, probably due to it not being in the typical Wychwood clear bottles.
