Commercial Description:
Only available bottled (not bottle conditioned).
This was the first beer brewed for the Duchy Originals organic range. The beer is brewed using a rare breed of organic barley - Plumage Archer - harvested from The Prince’s Home Farm at Highgrove.
Duchy Originals Organic Ale has opted for a traditional, British barley variety Plumage Archer to give the beer a rich depth of flavour.
The organic hops for this delicious beer are also British, First Gold, a new dwarf hop variety grown in Kent and Worcestershire. The beer is brewed to Duchy Originals' recipe.
The Duchy Originals Organic Ale is a ruby-coloured flavour-packed beer which combines the rich caramel flavours of the barley malt with the signature ripe orange nuance of the First Gold hop.

sweet, amber, fruity, smells like fruit drink, refreshing, tingly mouth-feel. A favorite.

Not sure how to describe this one. Tetleys on steroids maybe. Good overall but not my style. Very creamy.

Amber orange with fine frothy white head that quickly dissipates in a pint glass. Smells of sweet tangerine, cereal and straw, light fruity jam. Taste is grassy hop and bread, hints of fruit and red licorice in the mid-palate, finishes with some caramel and hop spice. Carbonation starts lively but finishes soft, medium body and creamy texture. Overall this organic ale has fresh taste and drinkability but lacks any outstanding qualities.

500ml bottle. Pours clear copper-orange with a short lasting medium sized tan head that provides soapy lacing. Aromas of caramel, marmalade and floral/citrus hops. Light malty flavours with a gentle orangey sweetness and a good floral hop bitterness. Medium bodied with a low carbonation and slick mouthfeel. Easy drinking. Nice one.

Bottle. Pours a mostly clear but lightly hazy copper color with a bright white foamy head. Nose is lightly floral hops with a light spiciness as well. Palate is full and smooth with a nice bite in the finish. Flavors of light piney and spicy hops with a light malty grain note.

Bottle. Pours a hazy orange amber with an average off-white head. aroma of cooked peaches, caramel, and a hint of citrus. Caramel and tangerine are the dominant flavours, some nettley hops in the finish. Medium bitterness. Just okay for me.

Clear amber-tinted copper coloured body with a thin (one centimetre) slightly off-white head. Decent looking, nothing special though. Aroma of fruit, raisins, pit fruits, caramel, malt and a touch of hops. Medium-bodied; Malty flavour up front with an odd cereal taste in the middle along with a nutty finish. Aftertaste shows caramel, pit fruits and an overwhelmingly bitter malt taste - no hops at all. Overall, a decent beer - not amazing by any means, but not horrible either. I sampled this 500 mL bottle purchased from the LCBO (Summerhill) in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on 11-October-2009, sampled at home on the Eastern Shore of Virginia on 24-October-2009.
