Thanks to Joe’s sharp eyesight I didn’t leave empty handed. Clear brown - I’d say it looked like iced tea - actually, it was a nice color, very visually appealing to me for some reason, it was like a contemplative color. Aroma was earthy with floral hops and light toffee. Mild malty flavor with almond and warm hops and some anise at the end. PorterPounder (3147), Tallahassee, Florida, USA

Light copper pour, thin, sticky white head with a wee bit of lacing. Fresh, but faint, grassy aroma, hints of Christmas spices. Decent subtle bitterness, faint fruitness, some nuttiness. Finishes with a buttery note. Nothing really jumps out and grabs you in the flavor, but it is clean and smooth. Good session possibilities. Palate, slightly thin, but not watery. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Feb 15, 2007 I had no idea this was a Wychwood beer until I read the fine print. Wow. Anyway, mine’s labeled "English Ale", but I’m pretty sure this is the same beer. Mine poured a ruddy, rusty orage with a wet, bumpy head. The aroma is very airy, but bittersweet, almost sour, musty, and honey-like. The same impression carries to the flavors ... slightly sour, almost citrusy, but like a blood orange, rindy, and while short of puckery, a bit tart. In mouth, good crisp ale with good resinous hops, light caramel, and light mineral notes, herbaceous qualities. Nice ale. Bought at LCBO. BB 5/12/08. Hansen (2285), Randers, Denmark

I can't trust my mouth all that well considering this is the last sampled at the Dallas RB gathering, but I did not get much from this at all. A little sweet, but I just plain is the best word to use. RichJ7 (1175), Cullman, Alabama, USA
