The aroma is sweet with hint of hops. The flavor sweet with malt and hops and comes with a bitter after-taste. It is very powerful, but balanced and round. A classic english fine ale, not to forget the fact, that it is organic. vern0159 (6), Suwanee, Georgia, USA does not count | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 11/20 | Apr 24, 2007 Bottle from Whole Foods on Old Milton. Okay, I am new at this rating of beer, but this Ale tastes & looks good. Letting it warm up a bit is the best thing I could do for it. Tastes a bit nutty (?), weak head, but good aroma. I like this one and will purchase again. DerWeg (762), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

The hops - or something - remind me a little of the slightly ’wild’ flavour of Algonquin Country Lager from many years ago. Just a very fresh natural tasting Ale with a good infusion of expressive character hops. BigBen2120 (688), Derry, New Hampshire, USA

Tastes malty with a fair bit of hops. Flavor is not overpowering... Medium bodied... Rather tasty IMO. A solid ale. yarry (370), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada

Gorgeous beer, deep copper red colour with a stunning tan head which exudes the beers aroma very well, and laces quite beautifully. The aroma itself is sweet, caramels and fruity warmth, with a slight hop aroma. The beer tastes of bananas, apples, mild malt and slight floral hoppiness. This is a very interesting beer, and one I would recommend.
I would be interested to try another beer made with the "Plumage Archer" barley. nearbeer (1834), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

Aroma is spiced brown sugar. Flavor is an excellent balance of the same malty caramel-brown sugar and dryish yeast and the right dose of bitter herb hops. Palate is smooth, medium bodied and slightly dry, with a watery finish. Underrated. rybowen (105), Los Angeles 90039, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 5, 2006 Pours a pretty dark copper color with minimal head. Caramely, toasted notes in the flavor with a moderate balanced hop flavor. Somewhat heavy, but very nice. Overall a good one. Pleasantly surprised. Organics are usually awful for me, but aside from a disappointingly bland aroma, this is an attractive beer with decent (if not everlasting) head and a full rounded and balanced palate with definite hazelnut notes and a refreshing dryness. Waitrose bought I think.
