Commercial Description:
Only available bottled (not bottle conditioned).
This was the first beer brewed for the Duchy Originals organic range. The beer is brewed using a rare breed of organic barley - Plumage Archer - harvested from The Prince’s Home Farm at Highgrove.
Duchy Originals Organic Ale has opted for a traditional, British barley variety Plumage Archer to give the beer a rich depth of flavour.
The organic hops for this delicious beer are also British, First Gold, a new dwarf hop variety grown in Kent and Worcestershire. The beer is brewed to Duchy Originals' recipe.
The Duchy Originals Organic Ale is a ruby-coloured flavour-packed beer which combines the rich caramel flavours of the barley malt with the signature ripe orange nuance of the First Gold hop.

Bottle from Sainsburys>. Sweet & malty with a few hops. Not really that nice, there’s worse though, but if people can rate this high imagine if they tried a decent cask conditioned bitter?

Bottle at Beer on the Pier, Chicago. Buttery esters, clearly English aroma that is not quite typical of an ESB. Clear amber with a thin, slightly off-white head. Dry, thin flaovr with some malt. Nondescript brew, but I’ll bet the English love it.

Nose is gently fruity and sweet. Pours a slightly muddy amber. Flavour follows the nose, developing into honey and orange notes. Mouthfeel lets it down a bit, as it is very watery. Finish disappears almost immediately. Alright, but nothing to write home about.

Fruity/bubblegum nose. Head is loose and quickly dissipates. It’s a little too heavy on the tongue for my tastes. Burnt sugar and bready notes. I prefer my Bitters with a little more bit. Cheers!

Thick sweet caramel aroma with floral and earthy hops apparent. Brilliantly clear copper coloured body is topped by a low but lasting large bubbled off white head. Butterscotch and caramel blend well in the flavour with mild offsetting bitterness to prevent it from becoming cloying. Mildly astringent medium light body with somewhat watery texture and fair to low carbonation. Tulip glass. Just above fridge temperature. Bottle (BB 13-May-09, Brewery Crek, Aug-08).

Pours gold with a small white head. Diacetyl aroma, backed by light earthy hops and faint toffee. The flavor is buttery and harsh, with a metallic and slightly hoppy finish. There is a hint of liqueur in the aftertaste.
