Commercial Description:
Only available bottled (not bottle conditioned).
This was the first beer brewed for the Duchy Originals organic range. The beer is brewed using a rare breed of organic barley - Plumage Archer - harvested from The Prince’s Home Farm at Highgrove.
Duchy Originals Organic Ale has opted for a traditional, British barley variety Plumage Archer to give the beer a rich depth of flavour.
The organic hops for this delicious beer are also British, First Gold, a new dwarf hop variety grown in Kent and Worcestershire. The beer is brewed to Duchy Originals' recipe.
The Duchy Originals Organic Ale is a ruby-coloured flavour-packed beer which combines the rich caramel flavours of the barley malt with the signature ripe orange nuance of the First Gold hop.

Orange-amber in colour, lingering but dissipating white coloured head, some lacing. The aroma is lightly sweet, wheaty, some fruit, floral hops, apples and light caramel. The flavour is agian wheaty, moderatly sweet, some caramel malts, light chocolate, bready. Moderatly bitter mouthfeel, medium body, high carbonation. Finishes with a lingering bitterness. Not bad, Hobgoblin?

Bottle: Poured a deep slightly cloudy amber ale with a nice foamy head with average retention. Aroma of fresh English hops is quite interesting with nice dose of light caramel malt. Taste is quite dry with some English hops coming out quite clearly with a nice base of English caramel malt. Body is full for the style with some adequate carbonation.

Bottle from Super Saver. Medium brown pour with aroma of caramel, toffee, and dark fruit. Tastes caramel malty, with some bitter hops, brown sugar, and cacao. Gets more bitter and vinous as it warms.

Well if HRH drinks it - you’ve gotta try it and your wife will buy it for you! Pleasantly surprised. Organics are usually awful for me, but aside from a disappointingly bland aroma, this is an attractive beer with decent (if not everlasting) head and a full rounded and balanced palate with definite hazelnut notes and a refreshing dryness. Waitrose bought I think. Doug Thomas

Pours a pretty dark copper color with minimal head. Caramely, toasted notes in the flavor with a moderate balanced hop flavor. Somewhat heavy, but very nice. Overall a good one.

1 pt. 0.9 fl oz (US) Bottle. Nice reddish-bronze pour but a bit cloudier than I imagined it would be. It even sounded nice pouring into the glass. Pleasing aroma of barley and hops. Heavy mouthfeel. Delightfully mild, refreshing taste with a hint of citrus but not overpowering at all. It is probably the best brew from Wychwood that I’ve been able to sample and I would definitely buy it again. My little way to help out the Prince of Wales Charitable Foundation?

Bottle. Pours an orange/brown, just a small ring of white head. Aroma of honey, pear, raisin, and apple juice. Flavor of wheat, lots of apple, tartness. Sweet, light body, very simple and mellow. This beer is subtle, not in your face with flavor, which is why I liked it a lot. Tasty and light. Delicious.
