Commercial Description:
Only available bottled (not bottle conditioned).
This was the first beer brewed for the Duchy Originals organic range. The beer is brewed using a rare breed of organic barley - Plumage Archer - harvested from The Prince’s Home Farm at Highgrove.
Duchy Originals Organic Ale has opted for a traditional, British barley variety Plumage Archer to give the beer a rich depth of flavour.
The organic hops for this delicious beer are also British, First Gold, a new dwarf hop variety grown in Kent and Worcestershire. The beer is brewed to Duchy Originals' recipe.
The Duchy Originals Organic Ale is a ruby-coloured flavour-packed beer which combines the rich caramel flavours of the barley malt with the signature ripe orange nuance of the First Gold hop.

Bottle. Pours an orange/brown, just a small ring of white head. Aroma of honey, pear, raisin, and apple juice. Flavor of wheat, lots of apple, tartness. Sweet, light body, very simple and mellow. This beer is subtle, not in your face with flavor, which is why I liked it a lot. Tasty and light. Delicious.

500 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours copper, with slight orange tint. Aroma is sweet, with hints of berry and apricot. Taste is sweet, with hoppy, bitter finish. Carbonation is fine, and lively. Head is caramel, leaving fine lacing.

Bottle. Pours a hazed copper with a small white head. Nose is malty and sweet with light hoppiness, bit of melon, iced tea, light caramel, and dried fruit notes. Taste is also very malty with big caramel and melon notes. Light earthy hops, sweet tea, bit of lemon, light cake sweetness, and light honey. Body is medium with an above average carbonation feel. finishes with honey glazed cake, light iced tea, earthy hops, light flowery notes, bit of lemon and caramel. Very "delicate" beer. The flavors and aroma seem as if they can get easily out of whack with improper storage problems. Thankfully, this turned out wonderful.

A deep amber beer with a fine golden head. The aroma is lovely hoppy with notes of grass. The flavor is caramel-malty with notes of fruit, flowers, and hops. A nice beer.

Bottle from the LCBO. Nice brilliant copper colour with a good sized white head. The aroma is decent, with some solid maltiness, and notes of caramel and orange peel. Body is good for the style, with soft carbonation. The flavour is pleasant and well balanced, with malt and grain notes off the top, some orange-candy sweetness in the middle, and a grassy hoppiness to finish. A very nice ale.

Bottle from England via Tupalev. Amber body with a good sized fluffy white head. Lightly earth malt and hops in the aroma is very "English", light green note to the hops. Sweet bready malt is ever so slightly toasty up front, and hops are subtle at first, but once you pick up on the subtle orange of the hops it is ever present, dancing along with light caramel malty flavours. Average, not quite medium palate suits the beer. Very nice. A touch more hops would suit my palate better, but this is a very nice beer that I could see drinking many pints of in a London pub.

Pour is a cloudy brown with a small white head. Aroma is a touch of malts with a nice hop quality to it. Flavor is even better. Very bready malts with a nice mix of hops used. Finshes with just enough bitterness to make this one above par. Worth looking for.

Bottled. A mid brown coloured beer with a slight of white head. The aroma is fruity and malty and very English. The taste has good body, nice fruity malts and a good bitter character. There is a little juicy hop late on. Quite bready in places and suprisingly good.
