| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 21, 2008 Bottle. Pours a golden amber mahogany in color with a pure white head. It has a clean, fresh, tangy hop aroma with a slight citrus touch. It has a rich, full, malty flavor with a ripe, fruity citrus note. It has a medium mouthfeel with a clean, refreshing finish. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 25, 2004 Is this Wychwood? I’ll be damned! Beautiful reddish brown colour, high carbonation. Aroma and flavour is nicely malty and very hoppy. Long and dry bitter finish. Nicely balanced but it needs more complexity for a top rating IMHO. RichardGretton (3145), Leicestershire, England

It doesn't have the Wychwood aroma. Indeed, this smells as though it has been more fully brewed and has better quality hops. The aroma is top drawer - good musty oak. The appearance is Wychwood - a sort of bland attractiveness; mahogony. Better mouthfeel than Wychwood - not sticky, though there's a harshness that I don't like. A pleasant, slightly tangy ale as a traditional bitter should be, with an attractive musty oak. A very decent ale indeed. The character is more in line with Usher's than Wychwood. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | May 9, 2008 Smells very nice. Chewy caramel. A nice light flavor. A bit of floral aspects but also stays on the teeth for awhile. Maybe lingers just a bit too long. Kinz (2205), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 2, 2006 Medium amber, decent head. Aroma was very nice, loads of caramel and a bit of toffee, almost like a barleywine. Very faint vegetal hop, but it didn’t detract. Flavor was nothing like the nose. Medium biscuit malts, faint floral hop bitterness on the finish. Very clean flavor, this wasn’t a bad beer, just not what I expected from the aroma.
