| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 3, 2004 Bottle- Pours a dark amber body that sort of looks like Iced Tea. Aroma is malty sweetness with some earthy tones. Taste is mild malt, wheat? And some bread. Little bit of a bite as it goes down, and it also leaves a nice aftertaste, which may leave you craving more. pootzboy (1048), Hawgville, Ontario, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 30, 2004 Updated: Oct 10, 2004A run of the mill German import with a specialty gimmick (the beech wood aging) . Pours a deep copper-tea color with a sand colored cap that dissipates quickly into a lace that lasts the drink out. Smells of sweet Vienna/Munich malts, earty notes and some floral hopping. Starts crisp almost like a plisner were the snap of hallertauer hops are departed with the peppering of the carbonation....then it gets sweet and creamy on the palate and subtle tastes are detected..some light citrus...rich sweet bready malts and the woody beech is detected. Then it finishes rather thinly...dry with the metal after taste of the hops like an Altbeir Not at all hard to take. A very dinkable Dusseldorf style Altbier with a unique beech wood taste.
Worth a try

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Apr 26, 2004 Bottled from the LCBO. Aroma and flavour were much different than expected. Very much like an English or even NA beer. Nicely hopped without being very bitter. Earthy, nutty flavours. Better than most Germans beers readily available in Canada but still just okay. Taste is sweet malt with hops and nuts. A creamy and soft mouthful. Somewhat thin in the end but still a nice beer! jerc (3964), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 9, 2004 Draft at The Old Woodhouse. Copper amber coloured body with a healthy amount of head that I managed to stick my nose right into to get a whifh of the mildly malty aroma. Hints of caramel and sweet malt with some slight bitterness and a relatively dry finish. JoeMcPhee (5056), Jackson Heights, New York, USA

Zesty malt aroma, faint spiciness, and some citrusy notes. Flavour is similar, malty, citrusy and quite floral, with a short crisp grassy finish. Good. joeycapps (1466), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada

| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Mar 21, 2004 Bottle from Metro Wines, Syston, Leicester. Strong malty aroma, and a ginger brown colour. No head, and ghostly lacing. Disappointingly thin. Metallic, with a sappy taste. Some treacle and specks of barley sugar. Pretensions of quality, but give me a good Pils any day - this is a poor attempt at an Alt.
