Commercial Description:
Get ready to cheat fate with a foreboding potion of wheat and barley malt temptation. Pure and unfiltered, the first taste forewarns the unsuspecting of spicy clove and smooth banana lurking around the corner.

On tap, Bowie location. From notes. Very hazy, straw yellow color, with a fast fading head. Aromas are mostly of cloves, slight banana. Flavors are sharp, slightly astringent, mostly cloves, followed by slight banana & hops at the finish. Thin body, thin mouthfeel. OK beer, but needs more body.

Draft, Bowie location. Pours a very cloudy, golden-yellow color; white head with pleasant lacing. Scattered bananas and cloves in the aroma; reserved. Relaxed carbonation. Medium, chewy cloves and bananas in the mouthfeel: quite fruity; pleasant hefeweizen core, but lacking some body and density. Medium, clove and banana and citrus finish.

Tap @ Bowie. Cloudy amber-yellow color with a small white head. Aroma is banana and a little wheat thrown in. Banana dominates the taste. Some spices and wheat are also evident, but the banana is over-poweringly dominant. Not bad, but not really my cup of tea.

Not a big fan of Hefe’s and especially not bananas (allergic). Since I can’t say anything good about this brew, I’ll stop while I’m ahead. This was one of the first ’diverse’ brews I had when I began delving into other offerings besides Macros. Good thing this was part of the DuClaw sampler, so I could enjoy other fabulous beers.

Clear lemon yellow body with a white head that was gone by the time it reached my table. Aroma is medium sweet, banana, clove, some wheat. Taste is medium sweet, banana, clove, other spice, some wheat. Watery light body, some crispness. A solid take on a Hefe.

Old Dominion Brewfest 2005, not a big Hefey fan. Good hefe example. Wish it had some hops to it.

Very good unfiltered seasonal wheat beer. I had it from a growler fresh from the brewery (Anne Arundel, Md.). Hints of fruit (I’m not so sure about the banana, though) and just enough spice to make the flavor more interesting than your average Hefeweizen.

Interesting attempt, but I’m not sure it is true to the style. Very murky with yeast and just a touch of oiliness (?) on the tongue. Too much fruit!
