CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Mar 20, 2009 On tap at Fell’s Point (2/13/09): Pours a transparent amber mahogany with a stringy-lacing white head. Aroma of lightly sweet toasty caramel and nutmeg spice. Starts with good fullness and sweet caramel toffee notes well balanced with holiday spices before a clean bittersweet finish. A pretty good spiced beer. Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Feb 22, 2009 A dark reddish copper ale with a very thin white head. A nice caramel aroma with nice bananas and cloves, In mouth, a surprising mix of caramel and coconut, a bit cloying and oily. Medium bodied. On tap at Duclaw Baltimore, Dec. 29 2008. Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Feb 15, 2009 tap at Fells Pt location. Reminded me of a pumpkin lager I guess. Pours a clear deep copper-amber with a thin lasting head. Aroma is spicy nutmeg, cinnamon, all spice- pumpkin like but a bit skewed to a Christmas ale- a hint of ginger and pine needle- ok sweet toasty and light caramel malt backbone. Flavor is sweet caramel malts, toasty Vienna and Munich- slightly bready, and a nice not-too-intense spice kick throughout- cardamon, cinnamon, nutmeg allspice, etc. Ok nice smooth finish and pretty easy to drink. willblake (2160), Belcamp, Maryland, USA Feb 14, 2009 20090207 Tap at Bel Air location. Red amber color with small creamy head. Interesting use of spice makes this savory but with a light body -- not heavy or sweet like many spiced or pumpkin brews tend to be. Nice beer. illinismitty (1790), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Jan 29, 2009 Draft at Arundel Mills. Pours a nice deep copper with an off white head. Sweet bready and malty aroma. Flavor of munich malts, maple, and caramel with nice subtle accents of cinnamon and nutmeg. Clean finish. Good solid beer here. jvmiller (532), Bel Air, Maryland, USA Dec 16, 2008 Smooth, nicely spiced, and easy to drink. I was pleasantly suprised with this one. The spice was quite well balanced and noticeable. Nice. mwelsh13 (483), Maryland, USA Nov 2, 2008 Special one off firkin with ’’a generous amount of maple added’’ according to Wagner. Big time maple aroma. Nice amber color with no head. Slightly sweet withe a good maple taste. Some chocolate flavors come through too. I need to try a regular 31 to compare it to, but it was a good firkin. bma4573 (136), Mechanicsville, Maryland, USA Mar 9, 2008 On tap in Baltimore, poured a light ruby color with a slight head, with mild lacing. Nice sweet aroma and really good fruity malt flavor, with a hint of spice. Really enjoyed this one.
