Eyedrinkale (3111), Beer Town, New York, USA Dec 15, 2007 Growled. Pours without much fanfare. grains and pumpkin spice to go along with a decent amount of sweetness. I like it. kmweaver (2125), Takoma Park, Maryland, USA Oct 31, 2007 Growler, from Bowie location. Pours a very bright, clear, ruby-tinged orange color; significant, light tan head with good retention and solid lacing. Plenty of doughiness and soft bready notes in the aroma, coupled to a warm autumn / pumpkin spicing; a slight bit of red fruit coming through as well. Medium mouthfeel: some caramel and dried fruit and dough at the front, but without any stickiness; nice spice presence, showing plenty of warm cinnamon and nutmeg without falling into any of the rough, sugary potholes of the typical pumpkin beer; very well placed spicing and a pleasant German lager underneath. Medium, cinnamon and doughy finish; minimal sugar. A very pleasant autumn beer. beachbum25 (603), Powellville, Maryland, USA Nov 27, 2007 On tap @ Bowie location-Poured a deep copper color w/a slight off white head & good lacing. Roasted malt aroma. Roasted malt flavor w/ traces bread dough. Had a definite spiced flavor, I’d say cinnamon & nutmeg describe it perfectly. Long, malty, spicy finish, Enjoyable. Ty5592 (1009), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 20, 2007 From gowler. Clear copper color with no head. Spicy cinnamon aroma and taste. Smooth with good sweetness. Stine (1354), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Nov 25, 2007 Arundel Mills location. Reddish-orange, clear pour. Foliage and fresh cut grass on the intial aroma; solid and well-executed spicing beneath in nutmeg, cinnamon and allspice. Powdery, bready, and earthy. Firm pumpkin sweetness dominates the flavor, though without the sugary, fleshy overkill of more audacious examples, remaining reticent and quite sophisticated in highlighting the richness of quiet dark lager lingering beneath; brown sugar, salted almond and pumpkin seed. Drier tones of wet paper and peppermint toward the finish. Wet, bready, and sweet palate; lightly rich, and delicately carbonated; spicy remnants remain with soft touch long after swallowing. Surprising, eager to please, and capable of it.
