Very pronounced flavor. Chocolate, not bitter roasted, but a toasted flavor. Very flavorful. Body smooth, but not thick...a bit on the watery side.

Pours a deep black with a fairly viscous consistency. Aroma of roasted malts, oat, coffee and chocolate. Tastes more like an imperial stout. Not sweet at all. Lots of roasted malts, coffee and chocolate.

On Tap-Bel Air-Black pour w/a slight tan head. Coffee aroma. This was a pretty standard stout, coffee, chocolate, roasted almond; didn’t really detect a whole lot of sweetness or oatmeal. Kind of a thin, watery mouthfeel. Nothing terrible, but I’d say it’s not up to typical Duclaw standards. I’d wait for the Bad Moon Porter to come on tap if you want a dark beer here, it’s so much better.

Draft at Bel Air. Pours a deep brown with a beige head. Strong dark roasted malt and coffee ground aroma. Medium bodied but with a dry feathery texture. Flavor of cocoa powder, dark roasted malts, and coffee beans countered by a non-aggressive, but balancing bitterness. Easy to drink, but seems more like a coffee stout than a sweet stout.

7/16/08 - Draft sample at Bowie location. Pours black with amber hues and a khaki head. Coffee and caramel nose. Creamy mouth feel with roast and chocolaty sweetness and a slight bitter. Good stout.
