Dark brown hue covered by a nice light brown ring. Coffeeish focused nose comprising pleasant oat chunks. Sweetish character reminds of brown sugar and cream. Nice oat presence in mouth, well integrated to the rest. Chocolatey and coffeeish in a grainy fashion. Not the most complex, but well brewed. meidum bodied, light carbonation.

Extremely dark, crystal clear, ruby ale with a khaki head and decent retention. The aroma is chocolatey and malty. The flavor is mostly well-balanced, but nondescript. Medium-bodied with a fizzy mouthfeel and a crisp, clean finish.

Sampled at the RBSG ‘05 bottle tasting courtesy of hopscotch: Pours a rich, nearly opaque, dark brown with a frothy tan head. Aroma is semi-dry and roasty with some dark chocolate. Body is a tad thin for a sweet stout, but has nice balance and ease of drinkability with a smooth, light caramely malty sweetness. Finishes semi-dry and roasty.

Draft @ Arundel Mills location. Pours a dark, chocolate brown color; light tan head with glistening, fine-bubbled lacing. Solid amounts of chocolate and roasted malts in the aroma; some coffee; solid amounts of mineral / citrus bitterness; very pleasant hop character. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: zesty mineral / herbal hop character upfront, followed by roasted malts, coffee, and milk chocolate; very nicely balanced, lively stout; solid levels of carbonation; very drinkable. Medium finish: breadiness, toasty malts, dough, and lingering chocolate.
