Tasted quite good, but the flavor went away a bit too quickly. A solid beer... if only I could find it anywhere (and they don’t sell it at the restaurant). aracauna (2383), Georgia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 20, 2006 Pretty much black. A bit burnt malt in the aroma. Really more like a dry stout. Not a lot of depth in the flavor. Not bad though. themadmumis (344), Westminster, Maryland, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 12, 2006 I’ve had this one many times; on draught at Arundel Mills. Well rounded Porter, but not the best. Still easily drinkable and has a solid roasted taste. Reduced to make a great glazing, too. Worth a once over, and definately through the sample for non-porter drinkers. thehipone (197), Australia
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | Jul 5, 2006 Quite dark body. Last one I had from the sampler platter, so it was a bit warmer and the dark grains really dominated the flavor. Chocolate and coffee notes were perfect for dessert. A bit of a burnt, bitter finish. I wish I liked porters more... bu11zeye (5469), Frisco, Texas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 16, 2006 (Draught) Pours a deep mahogany body with a creamy tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, and sweet chocolate. Flavor of chocolate and coffee with a creamy mouthfeel. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 4, 2006 Nice-sized draught sample at the Bel Air location. Midnight complexioned, quite thick tarry and opaque with a lasting thick dark head and a hint of lacing....big bitter roasty-coffee aroma, touches of burnt caramel and lightly oxidized old strong wine (port/sherry).....on the tongue, pleasant dark chocolate-coffee character is obvious though I can’t say it’s terribly distinctive or beautiful, and the body is a bit thin and watery for a porter....low carbonation, little sweetness and a bit of stickiness....BUT as it warms to near room temp, the chocolate presence grows enormously and the body seems to gain depth and fire....let this one warm, baby. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 20, 2006 Nice, thick head. On draft at brewery. Thick, heavy mouthfeel, heavier than I expected for a porter. Roasty toastiness upfront, slight hops in back...or was it up front? Overall, a nice beer, but more like a stout than I expected. iratherbe (255), Marlton, New Jersey, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 3, 2006 Satisfying! Cola-coffee black color. Tan / off-white medium to smaller built head. Strongly distinct roasted coffee, undertone of chocolate malt and somewhat sweet for a time on the tongue in flavor. Robust and pleasing in both aroma in its array and proud of body. A very solid well crafted porter.
