Nose is very roasty and coffee-laden with some dark chocolate sweetness. Lots of coffee and roasted malts in the taste with light smoky notes and dark chocolate. Medium bodied with a mild carbonation feel. Finishes with bittersweet chocolate, coffee and roasty malts. Pretty good stuff! BuckNaked (1204), Tempe, Arizona, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Sep 4, 2005 Draught at brewpub: Deep, dark brown with a medium beige head that lasts. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, and a hint of coffee. Also has a bit of coffee, not sure if I mentioned that. Ok, it’s not that much coffee, in fact it’s nicely balanced but I just felt like writing that. The taste is roasted malt, roasted coffee beans. and a bit of chocolate. I’m not going on about complex flavors that are hard to describe, dark fruits, or used candy bar wrappers, but this is just a well-executed porter with nothing to hide. Medium-full bodied, medium carbonation, excellent mouthfeel from beginning to end. You’d be hardpressed to find flaws with this one. DewBrewer (270), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 2, 2005 On draught at Camden Yards. Nice dark brown color with medium head. Mmmm, nice aroma with a bit of coffee with the roastiness and malt. Delicious flavor with the coffee and chocolate balancing the maltiness. Excellent beer. Why don’t more ballparks serve good beer like this? Scooby (50), Maryland, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 24, 2005 Had a couple of these at a baseball game in Baltimore. Pretty typical for a porter, nice roasty taste, with chocolate, medium mouthfeel, but to be able to get this at a baseball game instead of BMC was sublime. llgrgg (18), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 16, 2005 Aroma of coffee, chocolate, maybe some caramel. Tastes of chocolate hint of coffee (but not too bad). A good, well balanced porter. JonR888710 (999), Cochabamba, Bolivia
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 26, 2005 Pitch brown/ebony with a roasted, tan head. Smell is pure roasted coffee beans. Strong coffee taste, very bitter along with some sweetness from dark grapes and chocolate. Swell porter that holds its head well (over 40 minutes), with thick lacing. Aftertaste tingles the inside of the mouth with hops.
