Aroma was full of roasty notes, with lots of chocolate, coffee, some carmel and a little bit of that burnt carmel that I really like in a porter. The beer came off the tap opaque black with a tan head that stayed as a film throughout the duration. mmm mmm good, flavor is initially coffee with some flavors of cocoa that leads into burnt toffee, and a roasted heaven. medium-full mouthfull that was silky smooth. One of the best porters I’ve ever had TheBeerLover (1019), DC Metro Area, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jan 26, 2006 This beer is a very flavorful, robust porter with fantastic dark chocolate and coffee notes in both aroma and flavor. This beer is very flavorful and delicious, and makes for a perfect beer to have with a desert, and wraps up a visit to one of Duclaw’s locations very nicely.
Bad Moon Porter pours to deep brown to ebony color with a thick and creamy tan head, and a soft to moderate amount of carbonation. The nose on this beer is just bursting with big, robust aromas of dark chocolate, espresso coffee, roast, and some piney hop aromas. The palate is rich and full on the tongue with lots of big dark chocolate malt flavors, paired with more notes of espresso coffee. I’m really impressed with the chocolate malt character of this beer, one would think they brewed this with real dark/semi sweet chocolates. Bad Moon Porter finishes with more of the big chocolate and coffee flavors, then ends with a roasty, and piney hop bitterness that lingers.
This beer is awesome. I matched a pint of this with a sinfully decadent slice of Oreo pie on my last visit to Duclaw. It matched so well, I not only ordered another pint of Bad Moon, I ordered another slice of Oreo pie! Tastes of chocolate hint of coffee (but not too bad). A good, well balanced porter. carpediembp (9), Lutherville, Maryland, USA does not count | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 11, 2008 One of my favorite porters ever. This is a fairly full bodied beer with a wonderful dark color, along with a thin dark head. I usually have it from tap. Pronounced coffee taste throughout the pint, flavor becomes more rich and unique as it nears cellar/room temp. 19641948 (491), Greensboro, North Carolina, USA

Added to my RB list to check "Maryland" as a beer state consumed. A Camden Yards staple of mine. Dark and roasty. A good smeller, with roasty malts and hints of chocolate. Flavorful and tasty.

The aroma is of roasted coffee with a black coffee body and a brownish tinted head. A great DuClaw brew and one of my favorites among the regulars on tap.
