LilBeerDoctor (1480), East Setauket, New York, USA Jun 4, 2009 Bottle at PPRBSG09. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of plastic and roasted malt. Flavor of super burnt malt, just a disgusting mess. Very nasty. Something went wrong here I think. One of the worst beers of the tasting.
5/4/4/2/7 (2.2/5) j12601 (1149), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA May 31, 2009 Bottle at PilsnerPeter’s Spring Gathering. Pours a still dead black with no head. Smells of dark fruit and plums, a little barleywine like. Sweet and tangy, definitely infected. Light roast finish. Not tasty. Rciesla (3500), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA May 31, 2009 PPRBSG09. Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Feb 22, 2009 A deep dark stout with a thin moka head. A pleasant chocolate and coffee aroma, with light olive notes (again?). In mouth, a rich bitter chocolate with light coffee and nuts. A rich and decent stout. On tap at Duclaw Baltimore, Dec. 29 2008. DocHop (278), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Jan 11, 2009 Pours a dark chocolate brown with a short, light brown head. Great aroma of chocolate and slightly roasted caramel. Very chocolaty flavor with a creamy mouth feel and sweet, roasty notes. Sort of spicy as well with a mild, dry finish. Very dessert-like. WillieV (191), Maryland, USA Dec 24, 2008 Served in a pint glass. Dark brownish black color with lots of foam. Very good stout. Scents of coffee and light coffee. One of the better brews from DuClaw. Very nice stout. GMCC2181 (845), Bear, Delaware, USA Dec 23, 2008 Updated: Dec 24, 2008On tap at the bel air location. Poured into a pint glass, dark in color, good toffee colored head. Nice aroma of coffee, roasted malt. Taste reminds me of mikkellers breakfast stout or peche mortel. Lots of coffee taste, espresso, roasted malts, chocolate. No trace of the eight percent. Texture is smooth.... great beer.
