Commercial Description:
Released for the winter season, this hearty stout starts off with an espresso aroma, followed by a smooth roasted malt flavor. We age this beer for over 2 months to allow the alcohol to mellow and the flavors to balance. Despite the beers alcohol content (8.0%) and intense flavor, this beer remains smooth and very drinkable.

Coffee, treacle aroma, almost black. Flavour of roasted coffee, and bitter chocolate. Medium bodied, bitter finish. Really nice one.

RBSG 05. 2003 bottle. Pours almost pitch black with a good sticky tan head. Lots of roasted malts, chocolate malts, and coffee aroma. Espresso like flavor with lots of raost coffee- light astringency in the end, but overall it is very smooth and sweet with just a bit of hops in the end. Extremely smooth and easy to drink. Very nice. "Awesome" came up 3 times in my notes for this one.

RBSG ’05 - 2003 vintage, poured ebony black, no opacity whatsoever, capped with a creamy coffee colored head, with strong doses of coffee and bourbon wafting out, along with some chocolates. smooth, well blended flavors, starting out with coffee and leading into chocolate, vanilla, port wine, and a bit of licorice. a velvety rich mouthfeel and a thickness that coats the inside of your mouth await you at the end of each sip of this oustanding I.S.

07.08.05 RBSG Darkest brown with glowing touches of amber. Super sweet aroma and flavor lending dreams of black forest cake and plums. Soft with bubblegum and band-aid. Odd stuff, but good.

Sampled from bottle at RBSG Montreal. Opaque molasses thickness with a bare brown head just covering the indecently beautiful body and lacing thickly...chocolaty-licorice nose is rather simple but inviting nonetheless...milky-sweet chocolate milkshake body with little bitterness, perhaps killed by the 2 years on the bottle...silky, beautiful mouthfeel with nary a hint of alcohol, like drinking chocolate cake with very light vanilla cream and perhaps some scotch flavor if not the booze.

RBSG 2005. Vintage 2003. Black body with a creamy khaki head. Very muted roast malt in the aroma. Flavour has a mild dry roasty bitterness to it. Nice stout, but not really one I would personally drink often.

Rich chocolate and smoky burnt malts in the nose - the kind of scent I prefer from a big stout. Rich and creamy sweet bourbon... I think I called it bourbony awesomeness in my notes, with a spectacular gritty thick finish full of dark chocolate and charred wood. Thick, oily texture with some good, thick lacing on the glass. A stout worthy of it’s score.
