An almost black brew with some ruby highlights showing when held to the light. Nose is lightly roasty, mineraly, faintly chocolatey and smokey. Body is lightly medium, somewhat thin with some black malt like astringency, ok though. Light roast flavors, grain, smoke notes, bitter sweet chocolate notes and a hint of caramel also. Nose was roasty and slightly hoppy with a bit of fruit. Had the makings of a good schwarzbier, but I found the body to be a little on the watery side. Good cocoa, roasted malt, slightly smokey flavors.
