Aroma is all roasted malt and nuts. Flavor is heavy roasted malt, hints of coffee, smoke and wood. Smooth on the tongue with a below average bitterness on the finish. Definitely a session beer, one that doesn’t get old the more you drink it. hellomynameis (794), Mayer, Minnesota, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 30, 2007 Out of a growler at the Hampton on Dark Lord Day. Thanks to whoever brought it. Dark beer with a big rocky tan head. Chocolate and roasted coffee nose. Lots of bitter chocolate, roasted coffee, and burnt toast. This is definitely a dry stout. Not great, but a solid everyday drinker. goldtwins (4086), Nesconset, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 25, 2007 Tap @ Arundel Mills: Poured a very dark mahogany color that was close to opaque with a creamy beige head. The aroma was of lightly roasted caramel malt with a hint of fruitiness. The roasty flavor had good notes of caramel. The beer had a carbonic bite to it. Actually all of them seemed to but I think this one was stronger. alobar (1055), Harleysville, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 7, 2007 a great coffee aroma leads this off...almost imperial in nature, but you can tell there is enough hop going on in the background from beggining to end of the flavor to understand why this is in the class it is. pours a deep cola brown with a big fizzy head on it. hints of vanilla and of lactose along with a healthy dose of chocolate, after taste is not cloying at all, but instead is lightly bitter, tailing away into light chocolate tones. possibly my favorite DuClaw offering ever. kmweaver (2501), Sebastopol, California, USA

Pours a dark black center with thin brown edges; medium tan head with excellent lacing. Pleasant, dry coffee and milk chocolate aroma. Medium mouthfeel: slightly dry, milk and bitter chocolate, roasted coffee and hints of burnt malts; pleasant coffee character, not at all green. Medium, coffee and milk chocolate finish. themadmumis (344), Westminster, Maryland, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jul 12, 2006 Nothing special here. Would rather enjoy an ice cold pint o’ Guinness but I don’t think they serve that at the restaurant. Also, I wish the server would have told us that there was Celtic Fury in Cask available for limited time because it isn’t often that you go to an establishment that features beer in cask. Oh well. I guess I have to ask everytime now. This stout isn’t much more than the Bad Moon Porter.
