Sweet body, with a powerful alcohol kick (at 16.4% this is more of a Quintuple!). Slight toastiness, and a hint of plastic round things out. I was never a huge Quad fan - too sweet and alcoholic - so I had trouble getting into such an over-the-top example. Thanks scraff, though, for securing this beast. argo0 (6907), Washington DC, USA

Aroma is very sweet (candy sugar, honey), peach, flowery. Taste is painfully honey sweet, with fairly strong alcohol. Full body. hopscotch (5483), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

Basically looks like apricot juice... very hazy, deep amber. Small, off-white head.
The nose is hoppy and pungent with huge notes of apricot and alcohol.
The flavor is very malty, heavy and sweet. Not balanced. Lightly bitter on the backside, but the heavy, sweet malt and candy sugar win the war by a longshot!
Full-bodied with a syrupy mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Lengthy, sweet and sour finish. Give this stuff a year in the bottle and it's damn close to a perfect 5.0! Cletus (5057), Connecticut, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 16, 2008 1 liter swingtop. I think this came from slob. Pours amber with no discernable head to speak of. Touches of white bubbles on the surface, but that’s about it. Smells very citrussy and of dry malt (more of an over the top tripel). Tastes sweet with lots of spicey characteristics and some earthiness on this finish. An interesting take on this style. Alcohol is at the forefront of this beer unfortunately, but the flavors underneath have blended together nicely in this one. BBB63 (4232), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 29, 2003 Eric (Hopscotch) brought 3 DuClaw beers to the Chi-town summer party, of the two I had, this is easily the best. Some lacing and head on top of an amber colored beer. Apricot and sour apple hint in the aroma, touch of grain and yeast noticeable too. Complex taste, raisin sweet balanced by a fruity tartness, slighty warming. This brew hides the alcohol very well. Should age very well, look forward to finding a bottle in upcoming year. Highly recommended. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 29, 2003 This brew poured a small head of fine bubbles that left little lacing and a cloudy light orange brown body. It had a mild alcohol aroma and a strong alcohol flavor. egajdzis (3626), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 7, 2003 Sampled from the same bottle as argo... Poured a hazy golden color with a white head and nice lacing. Sweet aroma of candy and alcohol. And overall the taste included sugar, with some alcohol burn on the tongue. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 3, 2003 Spicy, hoppy, malty aroma, some tangerine and light melon. Pale, cloudy golden amber color. Flavor is likewise spicy, with notes of banana, peach, some barnyard (unexpected), pepper and fiery alcohol. Honeyish, malty finish. Really quite good.
