Slightly honeyed aroma but a significant hop presence is detected. Mild dark pit fruit also. Sweet caramel tastes, alcohol, spice as well. Accomodating palate. A bit of sharpness in the finish. A unique and well-balanced barley wine. More please. elmatador00 (518), j-action-ville, North Carolina, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 20, 2007 Courtesy Dragonstout. Pours a murky dark brown with a light, white head. Pretty big hops for a barley wine, I was surprised by that. Some grapefruit and some piney aromas seem to metriculate as well. The taste is extremely sweet, almost puckering sweet. Big syrupy, Belgian candy sugar really lashes out at you. The finish is relatively smooth for this big beer, and the aftertaste makes you want to keep coming back for more. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 20, 2007 Courtesy of dragonstout. Dark amber pour. Sweet aroma competing with hops to fight for your soul...Fat mouthfeel, lavor has hints of dark brown sugar, loads of malt and hops. Alcohol peaks through. Side note, the bottle is one of the coolest I have seen in a long time. Naven (883), Poway, California, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 1, 2007 Groovy Groovy Groovy! Thanks to Slob for providing me with this lovely libation. I can’t believe I drank the whole thing! I’ve been looking forward and backwards to this beer since slob and I agreed to this trade. I remember getting this out of the primary at the Bel Air location sitting at the bar on my day off seven years ago. Upon opening the swing top a crisp, intense hop nose greets you, followed by an intriguing deep amber pour with a frolicking rolling head that settles down in its own time. Big, malty up front hoppy body. Nice. Balanced, sweet aftertaste. Power tool use not advised. JJClark (546), Roscoe, Illinois, USA
