Cobra (1022), In the snake pit, Maryland, USA Dec 29, 2007 On tap at Bowie location. Poured out a dark brown, not as dark as Guinness, but not far off either. Thin off white head faded quickly. Aromas are of burnt sugar, toffee, some caramel, slight hops. Flavors are of sweet malts, some sugars, earthy hops. Medium mouthfeel, decent body, but a little thinnish. Somewhat sweet aftertaste. OK take on the style. Miver (292), WillowStreet, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 28, 2007 Draft at Fell’s Point. Poured dark trasparent brown with a small beige head. Aroma is of toffee and burn’t caramel. Taste is of the same with hints of nuts and overall a tad roasty. The beginning was not so good, but the finish was nice. Parrothead (161), Ephrata, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 15, 2007 On tap at the Belair location. Color was more bronze than brown, but still pleasing. Nice thick head and lasted. Extremely sweet nose, nice mouthfeel. The caramel/toffe-sweet flavor was a bit much for me. I liked it, but did not have a second one. Stine (1275), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Nov 24, 2007 Arundel Mills location. Clear, rustic and dark orange appearance. Clean, crystal heavy aroma with lots of grapefruit and orange presence beneath it; caramel, burnt sugars, lemonade with sugary vibes. Some whiskey, lively hops, maple syrup, and bright toffee tones of flavor. Bitterness weighs in with iced tea and sugarless caramel syrup; plenty of sweetness and sticky texture with a heavy-handed tone. Slick in the mouth, leaving a coating of generic, earthen dark sugars. Reasonably well done, though not especially "brown" in disposition. wickedpete (514), Lexington Park, Maryland, USA Nov 11, 2007 Dark brown with a nice layer of creamy head. Aroma is chocolaty, with sweet sugary caramel as well. Flavor has a slight roasted bitterness but predominantly nutty and sweet, hazelnuts come to mind. Similar to Bailey’s Irish Cream, almost. Very enjoyable and delicious. I was happy to leave with a growler for later.
