aroma was full of mocha and deliciously malty. Really great aroma! dark amberish brown with a head that cleaved to the edge of the glass. flavor was much like the aroma accept even better. lots of mocha flavor, carmal maltiness, and some toffee. good medium palate. The best brown ale I’ve ever had.

Nice toffee, almost too sweet, but still pretty good given the lackluster beer usually on tap (Venom is usually the exception). Pretty good mouthfeel, not too watery. Nice malt and caramel balance both on the nose and tongue. The nut character isn’t too, too prevalent, but it’s in there, well balanced. As for the style, it;s about 75-80% of the way to a very good beer. (On Tap 9/16/2007)

The aroma was chocolate and nuts wtih a toasty aspect and characterisitics of cognac and brandy. The flavor was chocolate and nuts (hazelnuts?) with a bit of a light oak presnce. The finish was bone dry and nice with lasting chocolate and nut into the aftertaste. Throughout the aroma and flavor were coffee impressions which lasted into the aftertaste. The body was medium and the carbonation was moderate. An interesting beer, but not something I really want to have another pint of.

Murky brown body with tiny beige head. The aroma is toffee, nuts and raisins. The flavor is quite sweet, lots of toffee, lightly herbal hops, some dark fruits and nuts. Medium body is rough with moderate carbonation. It was a struggle to finish this one.

clear dark brown, creamy beige head, big sweet vanilla and chocolate aroma with some sweet toffee and hazelnut, big chocolate and toffee flavor, lots of hazelnut character, caramel sweetness brings out the chocolate,

Draft at Arundel Mills at the X-mas in July party. Pours semi translucent brown with a beige head. Malty and hazlenut aroma. Medium bodied, but with a medium light texture and lively mouthfeel. Flavor of caramel, hazlenut, and plums. Moderate amount of sweetness. Finish is nutty with hints of wet grains. Reminds me somewhat of Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar.

Draft @ Arundel Mills location. Pours a brilliant, dark ruby-orange color; white head with fine-bubbled lacing. Light toffee and nougat in the aroma. Lively, sharp carbonation at the tip of the tongue; chewy, dried fruits and toasty malts upfront, with a chewy, nougaty presence mid-palate; slightly nutty. Medium, dry nutty finish.

Growler... Clear, Longhorn-orange ale with a large, fizzy, off-white head. The nose is a swirl of vanilla, gingerbread, deeply roasted cashews and almonds, chocolate, caramel and toffee. The flavor is well-balanced, although it does lean slightly toward the sweet side. Big caramel, toffee and roasted almonds cling to a slender malt backbone. Light to medium-bodied with a skim-milk mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Thin, watery finish. Kudos ring out to scraff for sending the growler!
