After developing my tastes for other, tested, tried, and true wheat brews, Funk is unique. Like the concensus states: where are the hops? I would try it again if it were produced, but please, have more refinement! axilla (962), New Providence, Pennsylvania, USA

Subtle malty and wheaty nose. Not a huge amount of flavor in this wheat (and a very noticable lack of hops) but it’s very esay to drink and nice chilled on a hot day. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 15, 2004 Stick with their powerhouses. This is a wimpy wheat. By calling an "American Wheat" does that mean the malt takes over? Smooth enough but where are any hops? Yes, a mild mead-like quality, but not enough to order another one. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 19, 2004 Pours pale yellow with a small white head. Smells like a slice of bread covered in honey. The honey taste is lovely, but overpowers the wheat. Citrus elements are low and I found the beer to be very much aided by the addition of a lemon slice. (Which I had to ask for.) Palate is very smooth, but thin. Overall, enjoyable in summer weather, but I think it would have greatly aided by being unfiltered. hopscotch (5549), Vero Beach, Florida, USA

Lightly floral with butterscotch notes in the nose.
Flavorwise, canned-corn and butterscotch notes up front. Astringent and well-balanced on the backside.
Light-bodied with a watery mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Short, crisp, clean finish. I agree with Guzzler, "Sweet wheat taste with a hop balance". As the beer loses some of the coldness, the flavor of the Funk tends to agree with me even more. guzzler67 (1289), Hanover, Maryland, USA

Sweet taste with little hop balance. While this brewery is one of my favorites, this style, for my tastes, is only in the "ok" range. jeffc666 (1897), Fairfax, Virginia, USA
