Commercial Description:
Hellrazer boasts a light amber color, citrus aroma, smooth hoppy finish, and devilish 6.2% abv. This new IPA will more than fill the void for you hop heads out there during Venom’s absence, but we promise, Venom will return with the hops.

(growler, thanks kmweaver) Medium off-white head atop clear deep amber body. Aroma is medium sweet, pine, some grapefruit. Taste is medium sweet, pine, some grapefruit, light floral, bread/caramel. Medium body, some resin.

Draft at Bowie location. Arrived at the table with practically no head on top of a nice, clear amber body. Aroma of grapefruits and pine. Goes down with a thin to medium body. Some subtle caramel maltiness upfront with a nice citrusy finish. Some drying bitterness lingers at the end. Not too bad. Decent enough to have again.

7/16/08 - Draft sample at Bowie location. Clear amber with white head. Nose is bubble gum and pine. Taste is resiny pine wand citrus, moderate bitter and little malt backbone. A bit thin, but manageable.

Growler, shared by kmweaver. Thanks Ken! Nose is resiny hops, with a bit of sweet caramel malt to balance it out. Flavor was bit less in balance but still nice. A solid ipa, here. I didn’t write too many notes so I don’t have much to say here.

Draft @ Arundel Mills location. Copper color, huge floral bouquet nose. Smelled GOOD. Description says "just enough" malt...but I disagree. This was bordering on hop water as the malt bill fell short. Again, OK beer, nothing fantacular.

On tap @ Arundel Mills. Clear orange color w/a slight white head. Strong pine hop aroma. Strong hop flavor up front, really stronger than I would prefer. Traces of grapefruit as well, but I thought this one was a little more one dementional, could use a little more balance on the finish, ala DFH 90 Minute. Its a Hop Bomb & the hop heads will love it though, but it left me wanting a little more.

Draft @ the Belair pub. Small offwhite, stable and lasting, decent lacing hanging around. Clear, bright, orange colored body. Nose is soft hops, lightly citrusy and earthy with some light caramel notes. Body is medium with a soft carbonation, lightly creamy on the palate. Dry, bready malt flavors backed by a gentle hop bill, grapefruit and orangey notes. Well balanced and quaffable. An almost dry, lightly fruity finish with an APA sorta bite. Not as hop forward as venom but still a nice brew none the less.

I really liked this one, it wasn’t crisply hoppy or aromatic, but it is a rare IPA that I could see drinking ten or so in a row without being completely turned off. It is a little less bold than the great IPAs but it was very balanced and tasty and pleasantly flavorful.
