Beautiful amber, grapefuity undertones, smooooooth with a sneaky little bite, & actually quite heavenly if you ask me. Yum! Nice replacement to Venom. For an IPA its a bit dark but the explosion of flavor it provides from first to last drink strikes the palate without mercy. Definitly worth the minor price increase due to a shortage in hops the company reported not long ago.
A great addition to Duclaw’s staple collection for however it may last. wickedpete (629), Lexington Park, Maryland, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 16, 2008 Clear gold body, fluffy white head lingers, leaves clingy lacing. Aroma is subtle, rich sweet sticky hops, lemon zest, and sugary candy. Flavor has bitter hops, thick and chewy, sweet cotton candy note, fresh hoppy finish but a bit of celery vegetable in the aftertaste. riversideAK (2803), Shoreline, Washington, USA

Bright gold pour with a nice fluffy lasting head and super sticky icky lacing. A really nice looking beer IMO. The aroma is of toasted caramel malts, some bread, and hops in the form of earth, citrus, and wood. Nice toasted malts, a touch of sweetness, all rounded out with nice earthy hops, citrus skins and wood. The carbonation is light and the beer drinks very smoothly. Quite good for session drinking. Smells of citrus, perfume, resin, dough, caramel, some light pepper. Tastes moderately bitter with lots of earthiness, touches of citrus, some spicy hints. Finishes earthy. Very enjoyable! kmweaver (2501), Sebastopol, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 19, 2008 Draft @ Bowie location. Pours a bright, bold orange color; off-white head with solid, glistening lacing. Plenty of earthy and resiny citrus hoppiness in the aroma; certainly bitter, and a step ahead of Venom’s bitterness (or at least the most recent batches), but no astrigency. Perfect levels of carbonation; medium-to-full mouthfeel: a nice jolt of chewy citrus hops at the front (resiny and sticky; solid acidity) with some earthy and mineral bitterness following; solid, pleasant malt core that never attempts to overstep the hops: candy sugar, a touch of bready / biscuity malts; a bit of dry dustiness coming through mid-palate. Generous, tasty hop-forward IPA, and a welcome new addition to DuClaw’s standard lineup. We’ll be drinking a lot of this. scraff (1955), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 13, 2008 Dark amber, creamy off white head. Hopped up fruity grapefruit and peachy caramel aromas. Moderate grapefruit zest bitterness balances on soft bready apricot notes. It’s very well layered over soft caramel malt tones throughout. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, bittersweet finish. A welcome replacement to Venom. Nice job Jim... LiebeBier (793), Annapolis, Maryland, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 9, 2008 Draft - An excellent IPA loaded with Hops that come through in the aroma and flavor. IPA the way I like them with the hops and malt equally present. Malt does not overwhelm the beer and vice versa. Well done, I enjoy this brewers beer.
