Jul 12, 2006 I’m a fan of the Oktoberfest brew. Last had at the Spring Maryland Beer festival. Much to my suprise, as I was stumbling about the fairgrounds, to come across DuClaw’s tent with a ’Mad Bishop’ sign raised to announce it’s presence on tap, 6 months after its release. Really not the best Oktoberfest, but it is f’ing phenominal in Spring, when another Oktoberfest brew is no where in sight. Sweetness subtly sneaks up on you as the balanced character of the brew fulfills the palate. My Favorite DuClaw brew.

Oct 22, 2004 2004 batch. Served at Duclaw’s rollout party of 2004. Served in a ceramic pint complimentary glass. Color is dark amber, a true Octoberfest colored beer. Aromas are of sweet malts, slight toastiness, earthy hops. Balanced to a "tee". Maltiness is well balanced by the noble hops, and nothing stands out above anything else. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel lends itself to easy drinkability.
Rich mouthfeel isn’t too thick, nor too thin, but just right. A first class Octoberfest beer from the gang at Duclaw’s. You owe it to yourself to get a couple of growlers to go, like I did, before it’s all gone.

Oct 29, 2003 Updated: Oct 27, 20042004.This is a good fest.Very much like Dominion & Victory..If you like fests this is one of the better.Very smooth with enough fine noble hops to let you know this is the real deal.This one is perfectly balanced, and of a rich yet session like quality.Rich Amber color,really well done.This is the best brewer in MD!

Oct 27, 2003 Dark amber appearance with a fruity, floral aroma. Taste had a toasted malt flavor with a bit of nuttiness. Some sweetness, but not enough to be distracting. Smooth, finish with a small degree of spiciness.

Dec 26, 2006 On Tap @ Arundel Mills-Poured a copper/amber color w/a slight tan head. Roasted malt aroma. Had some hops up front but not overly strong. Traces of roast caramel/toffee, almonds, spices, & a touch of wheat/grain. Very true to style, like a good Amber Ale. Very refreshing w/a crisp, clean finish. refreshing.
